I have a question about having more than one account. Obviously I've read it's not allowed within the rules and results in a permanent ban, but how official is that? Does it apply to veteran players for example, or those who have donated?
What I mean is that I know the rules apply to everybody "officially", but I mean would anything actually get done about it if a vet or donator was reported for obviously breaking rules for example?
Very very official. Recently a player of over 10 years called Myhedin had his account locked for breaking a rule over a year ago.
Edit: I thought you were being sarcastic, my bad.
That's interesting though, and good also. I've been a member of a few games in the past that have been left to shit because the players brought the game too much money etc to be banned.
Very very offical
Gotta believe it if a moderator says it.
Every lawyer would say they treat poor people the same as rich ones.
Btw for torn it could be true
Yeah, that's true.
I ask because I know of someone doing it and exploiting the ability to transfer the best weapons and armour etc to a lower character for easy wins early level - which sort of defies the whole object of the game for me.
If you know a multi report them to staff plz.
No can do. My account is under 7 days old so I'm physically unable to.
they get banned, but it takes a lot of time to prove multi if player is smart. So you will see some multi players here.
Dear Sphiinx,
If someone you love is a "multi", it is best to get them to seek help. Multiple personalities, or Dissociative Identity Disorder, is a real problem that can be addressed by the proper professionals. It may require time in a state facility until the disorder can be controlled. Don't let anyone you know go unchecked as a multi!
All my best,
AA
If you know about it for certain, report it. It will be down to Staff on how the issue is handled.
Edit: Just read Hcom3's post. Seems i am late to the party once again. :-/
If that player is just sending an item to a new player to help him/her get started, that's not a 'multi' as you say it. Maybe they are friend irl or just a player grooming a runner and such.
Basically this is how I know:
I was attacked early game, and lost. Which is cool. The same person attacked me every time I left the hospital, which again, is fine. It's all part of the game and I've gotta "git gud" to solve it. I didn't complain about it.
But then I mention it in the New Players chat, saying I'll get revenge on the guy eventually when I buy better weapons and boost my stats, and a person with a different account name to the attacker responds to my comments with "lol that's the guy I keep attacking" and a couple of other things relating to it.
And if that isn't already enough indication, he attacked me today after I sold loads of Easter eggs to buy better weapons and armour etc. and he actually lost to me. But then half hour later, he's attacking me again but this time with $30,000,000 worth of weaponry and armour, and of course wins again.
I think logically I have a case worthy of at least a quick IP address check.
Did you check if had joined a faction? Many provide loan weapons / armour of the best quality.
Yeah I noticed that recently, although it was more the chat thing that made me think it. I just didn't think anything of it at the time because I didn't realise people couldn't have more than one account.
You will be brought down pretty quickly whether its been 1 day or 10 years. Thats what I like, no bias regarding who you are. A cheat is a cheat :)
Really good weapons and armor don't make a weak player into a strong player.
They help in a close fight. But stats always matter more. A strong player with weak weapons and armor (or none at all) will easily beat a weak player who has been given good weapons and armor. Every time, easily.
If the guy you are talking about is in a faction, the faction may have loaned him equipment. A player could do that directly, but with more risk.
This doesn't sound like a multi situation to me.
I appreciate that, and I understand the loaning of weapons and armour etc.
It was more the fact that a different account was responding to me in the chat room, when referring to the attacks made on my character. Basically another account took responsibility for it, which I thought was odd and probably inexplicable otherwise.
Things are ambiguous. Maybe he hired somebody to hit you.
Either way, we don't have the tools to say one way or another if it's a multi or not, even circumstancial evidence is difficult in Torn.
As many people said and as I will add to, the rules are incredibly strictly enforce, and there is a muli-hunting bot working at all times. That being said, you should report it if you can. If you feel that no action was taken by staff and it's merited, bring your case to the public in GD and enjoy the shitstorm :P
