How about being able to have more than just your spouse live with you? The bigger the property the more people. But to even it out for every extra person you lose a small bit of happy. I mean c'mon a Pi for 2 people you got plenty of room

Also on a side note we should be able to upgrade all owned property without having to move into it.

Personally, if I had to lose happy for more people, I wouldn't even let my spouse live with me. My happiness trumps solving Torn's housing crisis.

Or instead incease upkeep rather than reducing happy? Maybe by a factor of 50% per every person that isn't your spouse.

That would work too. Either way you can still make even more money just renting out "rooms" so it's not just about giving the homeless a home it's also a opportunity to make money

This would pretty much be a dorm situation. But then what happens for upgrades. Expecting everyone to chip in seems somewhat difficult. Making it a shared lease would be more realistic. Everyone has to pay their part of the upkeep and if there are upgrades then the system itself demands everyone pays an even amount.

If you own a house irl and rent out rooms while living there yourself and decide to improve the property, it would be unfair to ask your roommates to chip in. Sharing the lease would be hard to implement and impractical (equal valued but independent leases are a different story). Shared upkeep would be cool and easy to enforce.

Overall, sub-par post with some slightly redeeming ideas. I was going to downvote, but I felt bad for your lack of karma points.

Let's be honest...the economy needs PI's to be expensive. Players should have an incentive to work hard to afford one, and the rental system is fine the way it is.

This wouldn't drop the value of any of the property. With the upgrades allowing for more people it would increase the value and give owners a new way to make money via renting out rooms

I dunno about this. PIs are already easy to get into, allowing for even more people to live in them would make them worth even less as demand dwindles further.

isnt the pi filled with butlers and the help? just thinking

maybe this could work, but would lower the max happy (crowded), and detrimentally increase bonuses (longer flight times, or only allow 2 people to fly at a time, less butlers and maid service per person, "busy doctor"). but it could also boost crowd related tasks: Organized Crime time shorten, company boost, group attacks (as if you were bonding).

maybe your butler/maid tasks could be outsourced to a human player... and you would have to wear a uniform...

Damn this might be a big system with debuffs and buffs. What do you think OP?
