I'd like to see a search bar for the sub-forums you're in. Under main then the ability to search for terms to see if something has already been posted in that sub-forum.

This feature already exists. Just click on the listing below the search bar to select which subforum to search in.

He said 'a search bar for the sub-forums you're in'. I'm guessing he wants to be able to search, for example, Suggestions without having to go back to Forum Main, enter his query, select the Suggestions forum and all that.
