Firstly, PotionSeller is not to be trusted at all. Consider yourself lucky it's only an Easter egg compared to others who have lost high value items through his scamming.

Stealing candy from babies is a time-honoured tradition, like tying women-who-won't-have-you to railway tracks, or hanging yourself to achieve an erection. Potion_Seller is a modern day Snidely Whiplash - an archetype as appealing as an over-cooked sea cucumber, and that's what makes him great. I believe that we should applaud his efforts. In fact, we should all send him a lollipop, along with a message: "Thanks for being you."

he's the rl equivalent to mugging a 90 year old granny in the post office and stealing their weekly pension.
