I don't know if this has been asked before, is there a way to empty the outbox? I have options to delete messages in the inbox, but not in the outbox. Is there a workaround to delete these messages?

It is not possible unfortunately.
Can the outbox store an unlimited amount of messages or will it clear itself after a few thousand?
