How do i hide my money or keep me from getting mugged? Is there a way to do that or not

How do i hide my money or keep me from getting mugged? Is there a way to do that or not

I've been told everyone uses the Bookie (in City > Casino) to hide their money (place a bet then remove it before the timer expires and place another, repeat forever). Otherwise you can upgrade later properties with a vault for that.
