So, Been a few months of warring/Chaining, As one of chain leaders 80% of the time during chains I sit and wait to assist I'd average a good couple assists every chain then when chain report shows it has "0"

Thought I was doing something wrong took a blind eye to it but after last nights chain I had 20+ Assists.. when chain report shows it says I have 4.

Same problem when I look at other members chain stats

So... what are we doing wrong here ? Have I missed something ? What have I done correct for the other 4 assists to register?

Any sort of advice/Info/help would be greatfully appreciated

It's a pain for sure, I hope that's not how it works as it sort of misses the whole point of assisting someone in need. Also I want that damn honour bar

Are you ever accidentally assisting someone outside of your faction for a hit? (i.e. someone else steals your kill on a popular target?) I doubt that accounts for a difference of 20 but still maybe worth confirming

Assists only count if the person you are assisting finishes the fight. If you finish it they have assisted you and you get the win.

Ah, lol, yeah that's probably it. For some reason I thought he'd said his personal stats showed +20 compared to chain report

No, Members calls for assist, I press the link or join from the faction page then follow through with the attack, Then recheck the event.

I've just seen a coment explaining the person who initiates the attack must finish battle. Which makes sense to why this is happening. Not a great system if it is the case though

How so? Otherwise people would be credited with both a win and an assist. Now only the people that wouldn't get anything at least get an assist now.

makes perfect sense to me

well considering alot of the assists are called because the attacker is struggling, doesn't make sense to me that the initial attacker  then has to get the finish hit for a assist to be recorded. They've asked for help due to low health strong opponent e.c It just takes away alot of the point to "Assisting"

Person who hits the finishing blow wins the fight, the rest have assisted. Crediting both an assist and a win defeats the entire point of that statistic.

Not everything is meant to be easy, there's a reason less than 40 people have the 250 assists merit.

Whoever initiates the attack and asks for an assist has to get the finish hit, for you (The assister) To gain  the assist.

Just being in an attack while someone else finishes is enough to credit an assist on a chain report and gives the assist respect multiplier for the attack, without you having to do damage or use a temp. However, you have to do damage to the opponent for it to count as an assist on personal stats. No damage = No assist on personal stats towards the merit.

I believe it is designed around the idea that simply by joining in the fight, you halve the stats of whoever the target. Therefore, if the person you're assisting was close to being able to win the fight previously (for example, they were dealing significant damage but simply taking slightly more) then now they will be able to. It seems to have NOT been designed for situations where someone selected a target that was far too strong for them, and simply needed a factionmate to take over the hit.
