2nd Annual n00b Appreciation Week and Boot Camp Competition!
Hello, n00b! I see you found this post, be it because you’ve been checking out the forums or because someone led you to this thread! While you’re here, I hope you stay!
Last year, began the tradition of hosting our beloved n00b Appreciation Week and Boot Camp, an event that was largely successful and even featured in a newspaper article! So here we are again, one year later, ready to get the ball rolling!
First things first- who can participate?
Participant Criteria
Between 14 and 70 days old
This means at time of signup you must be:
70 days or younger at signup
14 days old by the time the competition begins on the 19th
Not a restart
Follow rules and submission guidelines
Boot Camp Competition
Runs August 19th-25th, starting the 19th at 0:00 TCT and ending the 25th at 23:59 TCT
Participants can compete in as many or as little areas as they want
Participants are sorted into 3 groups based on networth
Groups 1 and 2 participate in all areas and have 75 participants each
Group 3 has 15 participants with the top networths and competes only in the area of User Activity for one top place prize
Participants in groups 1 and 2 can only win 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for ONE AREA
Participant stats in all areas are automatically tracked by Dr. SullenGenius’s script
The three areas of competition are:
Increase in User Activity (Group 3 is participating in this area only)
Increase in Battle Stats
Increase in Bazaar Sales (monitored for artificial inflation by script)
*Special Award for most overdoses
In addition to the main competition itself, we’ll also be running small daily events.
You’ll be required to answer a question, or complete a task.
If you do that, you’ll receive a small reward for your efforts!
You can participate each day, and hopefully you’ll have fun along the way!

What about rules? I’m sure you’re most eager to know what guidelines will be keeping this competition from deteriorating into total anarchy. Well here they are:
Rules
Daily questions and tasks must be completed by 23:59 TCT of the day they are assigned
All daily questions, daily tasks, and other submissions must be posted in thread
Daily tasks must be posted to thread in the manner specified on that particular day (links, screenshots, etc)
Submissions for daily questions must be a minimum of 3-4 sentences and use some basic semblance of grammar/punctuation (not a disqualifying factor but give a bit of effort)
No fighting, arguing, whining, complaining, feuding, trolling, scamming or catfishing.
Final decisions on competition are to be made by staff
Don’t bother trying to cheat the system- Dr. SullenGenius’s NSA Script catches and incinterates all falsified data.
That’s not so bad, right? We’re barely even touching police state level authoritarianism.

Every aspect of this event is designed to teach new players important skills and help them improve their overall gameplay

Pure, benevolent, unadulterated philanthropy with absolutely no ulterior motive! We just believe strongly in helping new players!
...okay so I may use the data from participation rates in these events to support my ongoing study of how to increase player retention through different types of assistance-providing interventions, but it’s 99% altruism I swear.
Am I eligible to participate?
You are eligible if you are between the ages of 14-70 (on the day you sign up) and if you are not a restart.
When does the competition start?
The competition runs August 19th-August 25th
What do I do after I sign up?
Be impatient while waiting for August 19th!
Does my API key give you access to my student debt/ Is this a kidney-stealing scam?
No. Your API key is kept confidential through a series of automatic computer battle robots who don’t need kidneys. Learn more HERE.
How are my stats tracked with this program?
Um… ask Dr. SullenGenius for specifics, but it does it automatically and sends us a spreadsheet of the results (your API key is not revealed through that process- none of us have access to it.
How do I join the discord channel?

Can’t people cheat the bazaar sales stats?
Nope! Dr.SullenGenius’s script picks up on shady business practices that may artificially inflate your scores.. How does it do that? Well… with robots? Hold on let me ask him.
Dr.SullenGenius: “It records all of your bazaar sales.”
Okay it records your bazaar sales so we can see if you’re selling a million beers for $1 each
What is the difference between the daily task and the daily question?
Every day there will be a question posted that you can respond to on the thread for prizes. Also every day there will be a task posted that you will complete with the staff member of the day for additional prizes. Both are optional.
Can I post my answer/do the task late/early?
Nope! Daily means daily.
What if I don’t have money for points for Daily Task 5?
Fortunately the prize for the Day 5 Daily Question is coincidentally the same amount you would need to be able to complete the Day 5 Daily Task!
Can I participate in more than one areas?
You can participate in as many or as little areas of competition as you want.
What if I don’t have a bazaar?
Then just participate in either one or both of the User Activity and Battle Stat areas.
Do I have to do the Daily Questions and Daily Tasks?
Nope, you are free to pick and choose what you want to participate in. However, there are special prizes for those who complete all seven days of the daily questions and daily tasks.
Can I win prizes in more than one area?
You can only win ONE prize, even if participating in multiple areas. This was changed due to the number of participants.
When do we get our prizes?
Daily prizes will be given out daily as questions are answered and tasks are completed. Final prizes will be given out the week after the competition ends and all the scores are tallied up.

Since we have so many signups, we have decided to split the participants into groups based on networth.
There are two main groups made up of 75 people each and then a third group made up of the top 15 participants with the highest networth- we decided to break up the groups by networth so that everyone would be competing against others with similar availability of resources. Group 3 (the 15 players) will be competing in the area of user activity ONLY for 1 prize of 25 edvds and a 30 day rent-free PI.
No changes to the competition/prizes for groups 1 and 2. Group 3 is also free to participate in the daily questions/tasks if they want.
