TORN'S Best Content?

I've been reading through a lot of forum content recently, and found that some players are extremely good linguists and writers, with well structured, well written, and well thought out posts. Some highlights have been Rainbowsaurus and Hcom3. 

On the other hand, there also seems to be a lot of poorly written mindless drivel on the forums, mostly by shitposting trolls looking for a quick fix from garnering attention. 

So, I decided to ask...

Who actually is TORN's best forum content creator, and why? By content creator, this could be author, suggestor, graphics designer, anything!

More on-topicly tho I like posts that have a lot of structure to them and are written like a newspaper. Something that flows as a story. On the other hand though, I'll never say no to a God-tier shitpost.

Baldr's advice and guides are always well written and very helpful.

Bug always gets good work done, same for Harley, Stewie, Bogie and the rest of the wiki team.

Proxima can be abrasive, but he knows his shit and when he starts explaining things it's hard not to agree, or at least clearly see his point of view.

I suppose it depends a lot on what you consider to be content though. I wouldn't really call people simply posting responses to a thread to be content creators, even if they technically are creating most of the content on the forums.

Sometimes I don't read a thread because I don't see how it will relate to me.  Take LDP's "Meet up in Brighton" (started bout a month ago)thread for example...I live in the US so it didn't pertain to me.  I opened it today just to see whatever happened, and because I am who I am, I started on page one, and it is very entertaining even for those not planning on going.

LDP's City Finds thread (Started over a year ago) is an interesting one to think about.  I participated in it for a while, but after a month or so stopped updating my post because I felt like it had run its course.  It is still active though and it has over a thousand pages of responses.  There is definitely a population that continues to value that content.

Hopslam's Bar Torn City (Started 6 months ago) in the Fun and Games forum that is just terrific!  The activities are varied so it stays fresh and people get inspired to interact in their own unique ways.  It's a feel good environment.  It can also earn you a bunch of beers if you participate!)

Trip's "Cleaning the Pollution" thread is a great thread to read too. I value positivity and lighthearted fun, so those are the threads I promoted here. 

If you look at my examples, they relate to the game in different ways. 

Socially: with a real life meet up
Practically: highlighting the  new city find system

Philanthropically: Hops quest to share 10s of thousands bottles of beer

Spiritually: Trips quest to get positive vibes to overtake the negative vibes that so often flood our forums.




Negative vibes flood our forums because they are valued too.  It is really easy to get caught up in the negativity either by agreeing and participating in the destruction of some unpopular person's character, or by sticking up for the person being attacked.   It's very easy to get caught up in the mean spiritedness, and sometimes it seems like matching their low to counter the ugliness makes a lot of sense.  Those who go low are good at it and those who follow can never get that low so it makes more sense to just ignore the ugliness and stay out of the mud.

The three contributors I mentioned are successful contributors based on the evidence I gave.  They are not necessarily the first I would think about if you asked for the most prolific content contributors or the most popular.  Although I wouldn't say any are unpopular.  

There are just so many great writers in the forums.  Taste makes all the difference in what one chooses as the best.  

Champion posts prolifically and so many of his posts spur great conversation.  I can't claim him as a favorite person, but there is no denying that not only does he have a huge following, he also has a huge influence on what is talked about in the forums.  

Bogie is a wealth of wisdom and is also hysterically funny.

JussiJernkuuk can turn a crap thread into something worth reading because he is really great at finding insightful ways of responding to people even when he disagrees with them.

I am having the same problem with offering a "who is best" as I do with who is my favorite author or what is my favorite song.  Mood, interest and current events can influence this so there is no one answer that fits.

I guess it really depends on what you value as content and what sense of humor you have.  I don't think you can get a definitive answer.

I'm trying to be less abrasive, I swear [:tongue:]
