So as some of you may know, the new Batman series, Batman Damned, is the start of a new set of comics geared more for an adult audience. The DC Black Label will make comics for the mature comic reader and features in it's first comic series, Batman Damned, a full frontal nudity of a prominent character, Batman. Although the front is dark and shadowy, it is clear that you can see the outline of Bruce Wang. What do you think of this new approach to comics from a reputable comic book publisher such as DC? Do you see this as a smart first move, using a male character to dispel it as being sexist or pornographic, on DC's part? Do you think that adding tasteful nudity to comics will enhance the stories, or will this be seen as a pandering ploy to gain more readers?

It depends on if it actually helps the story or works with the story and does not just feel like it is pushed in there just to have it. Just like in movies and other things Nudity, special effects even romance should only be used to help tell the story and not just be the story. Because when it just is the story then usually there is not enough plot in there to make it good.

Of course there are. However, DC being the second most if not THE most prominent comic publishing company in the world, this is huge as neither them or Marvel has done anything like this. This is a big dong, I mean deal.

DC has had Vertigo for a long time for older readers, so Black Label is probably along those lines but darker, more grim. There's a reason they opened it with Batman and Constantine.
But I enjoyed the first part of Damned. It's a crazy read and the wider book lends itself really well to the style. I'm excited for the next two.

To be honest DC has always been the darker brand. Batman has seen rape, murder and deranged behaviour for years over Marvels goody goody stories. Killing Joke is a classic example... [:sick:]
