If it was for you then you would actually turn the system off after use, your lil ones will probs leave on all night or in standby mode so yeah if its a basic ps4 then you will hear it … - Yiddles [426457]

I will definitely buy new, it is for the kids, thinking ahead towards Christmas. What’s the thermal? To cool it down?

Good value on a PS4? Depends what country you're in as always.
Buy brand new mate and the first thing to do is crack it open and change the cheap-ass thermal they stick in that system, if ya don't do that then there's a BIG possibility you will get aero mode within one/two years and cause damage to the other parts.
You could buy a 2nd-hand ps4 for whatever and hopefully it will run for 3/6 months, I do suggest that you crack it open straight away and clean/re-paste asap to get maybe a year or two out of it.
The ps4's I have come across are pretty shit build-wise and a lot of the issues were sorted out with Pro but many still linger.

they dont really overheat if you have had it a couple of years and its noisy you can have the thermal paste replaced

Also the games they play have an issue, stuff like fallout and cod run heavy system wise. I'm gonna guess they will smash Fortnite? as all kids do nowadays so its not really an issue system wise as I know of, its not that heavy.
Your lil ones will be well happy anyways if you decide to purchase a ps4/pro for them at crimbo times, the 3rd party games you can bag for free with ps+ are fan****ingtastic and will keep them well busy during your one week off work.
