To be fair internet explorer is not anywhere near as bad as it was back in the day. I still would never recommend anyone use it though with there being several better browsers out. It just gets a lot of hate from back when it was really, really shit.
IE is not near as bad as Safari
It's new reincarnation.. Edge is actually pretty decent.
The main gripe I have with edge is that extensions seem to be slightly less reliable than Chrome, but other than that it works just fine. The only reason why I installed Chrome was to get access to DocTorn back when it was still on the Chrome store. The PDF and OneNote integration is just fantastic too. Especially if you have a Surface Pro.
Not saying it's better than Chrome. It's just a browser that works perfectly fine out of the box when you get a new PC. Ultimately, it's down to personal preference (and likely the type of PC you're using) when choosing between the two.
