It is not the account "Anonymous" sending you those mails, it is other player's who have the ability to send them anonymously (Computer Science Bachelor) If you are being sent mails that are harassment, simply report them, and it will be dealt with.

Hi Stewie. I hear you. This player cannot be attacked though. It states they are NPC. Any degree whatsoever is not going to make any Torn player invincible. I'll report it for now as harassment though.

Anonymous is not a player (NPC). Simply report any harassing mails that are against Torn rules, and a staff member will be able to see who is really sending them. :)

I wonder if Torn should change it so that anonymous mails do not link to the NPCs profile... (like how it shows in the Outbox)

Look your not understanding what Stewie is trying to say. The person called 'Anonymous' is not the player Anonymous but a person who probably goes by another name and is sending you mails secretly without revealing his identity, hence it shows up as Anonymous. This player is not a staff as staff don't do shit like that. You pissed off their faction, by attacking their members, and so higher levels in that faction are now threatening you. Subscriptions have nothing to do with anything you are talking about either.

If the messages are harassing you, simply ignore them or report (up to you). But if they're not , you can choose to still ignore, or just leave it alone and let the game go on....

As you may have already realized, this "Anonymous" you are talking about is not an NPC (Non-Player Character), but a legitimate player. "Barking at the wrong tree", was it?

As far as I know, Anonymous messages won't link you anywhere. It simply says "Anonymous". Unlike other messages you get from other players, which linked to their profile, this is just plain text. Of course, in the most unlikely case, it could be a bug, but I'm sure it's just your eyes playing with you.

EDIT:

A normal message will link you to the sender's profile:

Whereas an Anonymous message is plain text and will get you nowhere:

What you probably did is, you searched the name "Anonymous" on the search bar, which leads you to the NPC named "Anonymous", and resulting in this misunderstanding.

As stewie and many others have stated

this has nothing to do with staff or the NPC

it is a player who has completed the computer science bachelor education

as for them threatening to hosp you, not against the rules 

if they violate the rules, report them and we can see who actually sent them

 

As for this report, i will pass it to ched to see if its possible to disable the link to anon id 9 to save from confusion

Perhaps I can orchestrate this with Ivan, or another developer who has more experience with the messages system.

Would be a good idea. It's not the first time the link to that profile has caused some confusion, but it might be the first bug report.

As Ched mention, Instead of Anon mails using the name "Anonymous" would be better if it was just plain text Someone, like for stealth attacks and bounties. Even tho there is a player called "Someone".  :P  They will have to carry the burdens of that name.  xD

Now,  unlinked "Someone" title is displayed, when the user sends the letter with anonymously
Users will see the changes after the next release
