I'm not leader or co-leader of the faction but I can edit anyone's cash or points amount in the faction. I tested this with myself and para's amount!
Not sure If I have access because I have FO access but according to ched's announcement it should only be leaders and co-leaders who can edit the amounts!
- Those with the relevant permissions will now see the money and points balance of all members of the faction in the "Give to user" panel. These balances increase when they donate money / points, and decrease if they are given money / points. The 'pay day' feature will not affect money balances. The balances can be adjusted to any value by the leader or co-leader, this only changes the balance of the user and has no other effect. Members can see their own personal balance on the armory page.

As it is now, I know it's handy, but honestly this opens up a lot of players to having pranks and scams put upon them by those with these rights. It's good that there are records of changes that show up in faction events, but if someone has little reason to check their balance for a long period of time, then those records will no longer be visible..
Also you have people that don't understand implications The only ones that should be able to EDIT the money there are the two leaders. No one else.).
I see lots of problems ending up at Staff door over this and I think Staff have better things to do, than sort this out.
Changing the balances should probably be limited to leader and co. Balance adjustments would only be changed in limited circumstances, opening it to more people is a control issue that can potentially be abused

i see no reason why people who can give money from the faction bank should not be able to edit the amounts. it's enough that FO is limited from using the payday feature (and from faction upgrades for some twisted reason)

I would be more worried about the fact that Full Ordinance access is given to someone who is capable of scams and pranks. I have to agree with Caddylac on this one, if you have given someone ability to give and take money from faction bank, he should also be able to edit the balances.
Yeah I’m with caddylac too. If you can’t trust someone to not f**k with the balances when you ask them not to, you can’t possibly trust them with the actual cash itself. But it is nice to be able to give someone other than lead/colead banking responsibilities, to lighten the load on them if nothing else.
Bottom line just be responsible who you give the permission to.
The amounts update automatically; changing them manually is a rare occurrence. There is no way to track who has changed balances, it can be done without people knowing. You can trust people in your faction all you want, but Chedburn made the 7(?) day rule to be made faction leader to avoid scamming factions and limiting a limited-use function should also be considered.
Think of a retail store; I may trust my cashier enough to handle money, but there are controls in place to ensure she can't **** with the receipts. Anyone who has ever taking an Accounting class or ran a business knows that companies will use cash controls to handle funds and it should be the same in game. (light reading; see segregation of duties & adequate records: https://www.cliffsnotes.com/study-guides/accounting/accounting-principles-i/cash/cash-controls) The function will almost never be used, having more than 2 people with the option just brings in more risk than reward.
Also for christ sake it is FM not FO. FO = FOrum Management
Edit: It does tell you when balances have been changed in the deposits section, but this would be extremely difficult to fish through and reconcile unless performed daily
Yeah let's give leadership more responsibility by now having to perform a weekly cash reconciliation to match inputs, outputs and edits to cash balances. I do enough reconciliations at work I don't need any more in a game haha
someone leaves the faction : you can't send the money to them while they are outside; you send them to yourself and then gotta edit both amounts;
it happens enough to become a hassle; but i agree it also depends on how much responsibility you give to people with FO or FM (whatever the **** you or torn want to call it)
for the record, i don't feel like a cashier :P so can't make that comparison
like i said previously, it matters how much you trust people with these kind of rights in your faction; handing over leadership or co-leadership might seem something trivial to some but i'd rather have solutions to avoid having to hand over that position only to perform a full check on money or set fac specials when they reset
as previously stated, it's just the way you handle things; by having to re-check balances yourself that only means that the trust does not equal the trust given, pure and simple.
What’s the difference in workload really? You sweep through any edits made by someone with full ordnance (can you really blame caddy for getting the name of that permission wrong lol) and it’d be immediately obvious if someone is cooking the books.
I’m inclined to agree with this. Over here we have the three leaders + two formers leaders with FO permissions. FO is perhaps the most sacred of permissions, and If they can’t be trusted enough to edit their balances correctly, they shouldn’t have FO.
Either way, the announcement should be edited to reflect if this was actually his intent, or the permissions should change to reflect the announcement if that was what he meant, then he can assess what he actually wants to do from there.
