Are there any benefits to marriage?
Being married allows you to share housing with your spouse, reducing upkeep costs and (in the case of those renting) allowing you to split the cost of rent.
In addition, there are merits for remaining married certain lengths of time.
Several, there are merits, 20+ if you stay married to a person, you have a chance of living in a better property or being able to split the upkeep costs and you might make a friend in the process.
Well if you get married then you have divorce to look forward to?
