i dont think you should call the human species doomed only due to a single study that show a decline in insect populations
the topic is alot more complex than this

I'm sure people freaked out when woolly mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers were going extinct too, but that turned out pretty okay in the long run.
I'm fairly certain that human beings didn't have the ability to realise what extinction was at the time, considering europeans only figured it out around the 19th century, but ok.
Apparently some of us still lack the ability to realize what humor is

I'm sure some people would always survive there are military installations that could survive for years underground that's top secret information that we in the public have no idea the technology out there they say we are 30 years ahead of what gets into the public view as long as there is water they could always extract oxygen
Saving people != saving earth
Humans may be doomed, but the earth will always find a way to sort itself out.
nature is always fluctuating, maybe earth is getting ready to go through another big change
