Should factions be allowed to go over 100 total

My point is simple, if you want to show tribute to someone then show tribute.  The game shouldn't bend in order for you to do that, nor should it have to.

The fallen aren't playing the game. There is no benefit nor disadvantage for the factions. I think in 20-30 years (hopefully 100 years) from now, if factions were to have 120 players than it will show what kind of community torn is. A community dedicated to each others, friendly and who doesn't forget the deceased.

 

You might say that the dead doesn't care, it is your opinion but even than, i think it is only fair for the faction members who have played and chat with a deceased for several years to be able to have a way to show their respect.

Torn is the only game i have ever played that remembers the fallen and that is something very honorable and shouldn't change.

The player died, his place isn't causing an issue as he can't be involved in any shape or form - due to his demise.  It's YOU who feels it's causing an issue hence your post.

As for 'bending'?  Sorry matey, but it's Ched who DECIDES what happens here.  This isn't a democracy or Brexit (AHAHAHAHAH!) It's a owned by him.  Yeah, if the players throw their toys out en masse then he might toss us a couple Barbie/Action Men/plussies (whatever takes you fancy).  But it's HIM who decides, not you.

If he decides to postpone CT to Easter, meh, his game.

When a lot of us die, people in the game might not even know so I think it'll be a while before you have 20 dead players in a faction unless there's a lot of real life connections.

My first sentiment on this thread was similar to that of the others who posted here. So were my second and third sentiments.

But what I think the OP is stating, is that it is more valuable as a tribute to keep someone in your faction KNOWING it is actually costing you one spot, than it is when there is no cost at all.

Compare this with a funeral IRL. Some people spend a LOT of money on graves. I once visited a cemetary where graves were the size of a small house. In that community, the fact that people paid so much money for the grave was seen as a symbol for the deep bond felt with the deceased.

From that perspective, I'd say there's an argument in favor of what OP is saying. If you keep someone in your faction, at the cost of 1% of your battle-capabilities, then you are showing a commitment which goes beyond just "lip service" (is that a word in English)?

With how the fallen are displayed that actually would give an advantage unless you use a script to hide them, maybe they should be given a new page in faction like they are in the community center?. Also factions that had players pass before the new protocol should really be given the chance to regain their fallen members as well if they would like to otherwise it is unfair for them.

Your requesst comes from a place of selfishness, not tribute.  You made your tribute.  The request was due to the fact that you didn't want to have your faction handicapped over it.  At that point, your tribute turns into self gratification.  I didn't post in your thread as I didn't see it. 

 

I realize people are upset over my post.  I am merely saying this change was made strictly through emotion.  I'd prefer the changes be made and rules be made through and governed from a standpoint of compassion and intelligence.  There are a lot of intellectually inept people that play this game, as this thread demonstrates.  Maybe its not in the best interest of the game to have the masses determine changes?  

 

People can feel free to be upset with me, I knew this wasn't going to be a popular thread.  The fact of the matter is that I am not the one doing the attacking here.  I am merely asking a question and trying to have a conversation that is clearly too emotional for many to face.
