The bank intrests are currently based on how much total money is stored in Torn in all the banks. They have been dropping steadily for the past 2 years, if you would bank 2b in January 2017 (with a 10 star upgraded bank) for 2 months, you would get 320m intrest, now you’re getting 240m intrest.

This is very detrimental for the players who really have no other safe way to make some money. This hurts those smaller/younger players who want to grow but see their income severely diminished by these measures.

Why not make the bank intrest adjust based on your networth? If you have less than 5b networth you get a better percentage than if you have 20b networth. 300m means a lot more for someone with 5b networth than it does for someone who has 20b. It would help the smaller/younger players, now it’s just making them quit.

Possible counterarguments;
  • Hide your networth before you use the bank --> this can be countered by basing the intrest on your networth of the past 10 days, or even longer. That way it would at least severely annoy the abusers

Excellent point, I added it to the first post.

Where there's a will there's a way of course but by making it harder for the abusers it will discourage a lot of them. Also, I'm just talking about making the intrest the same as +- 2 years ago (difference of like 5%, that's it) . Doubt it's worth the hassle by checking their networth over an extended period of time

As a player who have less than 5B, this idea is appealing but i have to admit that how it is right now is more realistic.

Maybe torn could create a system of Loan (take into account duke loans to not to create a competition with duke :P). Banking - Loan= Cash in reserves and the interest could be based on that cash reserve.

Or Torn could actually use this cash to create other advantages within the city. For example, Company returns could increase depending on how much money is in bank. Tbh, I have no idea what other advantage they could create but they can work around this idea.

Now, i also read somewhere that the current system is to prevent further inflation. So i don't know :D

Great idea.

Yes it's exploitative but considering how much money people have made with their scripts and bookies and making interest now with it ( which as you pointed out has reduced the interest gained for everyone) , your suggestion gives something to the actual players and I really hope it goes through.

Edit: this was disliked by a script user.

Glad you added the bottom section. That was my immediate thought. Id just deposit my company money into faction for 10 days. Then bank :)

Nice idea but probably not going to be introduced.

We can always try. I do think the bank interest needs to be adressadd, especially for younger players. Can't keep going lower forever

making interest rates higher will damage the economy, we would have hundreds of multi millionaires in no time at all, this is not what the game is about in my opinion.

Why didn't you just leave the bottom bit as it was?, Now I disagree with the idea altogether. Sorry.
