Seeing Nath, with his negative networth, still eating SE's, made me think of this. Why not liquidate all items, or at least, not have access to items when having a negative networth? I mean, a bank won't let you live in your house when you in debt.

Payback before using items again!

speaking as someone with a substantial negative networth myself, i feel my hands are already tied enough not being able to trade or send items to other players (also some missions cant be completed because of this), why should people in debt be limited even further by not being allowed to use items?

This would only make it even harder to get out of debt if you can't progress your account to a stage where you are able to pay it off.

My point is, why is iT possible to have negative cash, but still have items worth millions/billions? System should liquidate those items to get out of negative cash.

No, you should have complete control over your items as they're... your items. As I previously mentioned we're already restricted in what we can do, we can't send items or trade unless the trade value on both sides is equal, and why should it matter that the debt is automatically wiped with your items value?

If you're in debt, you don't have any kind of advantage and there's no one being affected by it, it should be completely down to the user if they want to sell their items to get back into positive figures or remain unable to do so many basic things.

In real life, if you go into negative networth, which is only possible if you are in 'debt', you either declare a state of bankruptcy in which all of your assets are seized in an attempt to pay of the debt or your assets are seized by the creditor when payments are failed.  This should be no different in Torn.  Negative networth = no access to items.  Considering the only real way to gain a substantial negative networth is through illicit fund removal, this seems like a suitable punishment.
