They got a lead on KK by Sid reporting a duplication bug that he could replicate. I imagine from there they took Sid's duplication log and searched for similar logs which lead back to KK and Reformer among others

Considering the accusations that ALL R cheated and so on from JF quarters I think this attempt to distance JFA from KK is quite contrite.  It's not like it was so long ago he left, certainly after 2016 and a number of links posted by AHAB regarding bug reports coincidentally mention KK...

BUT - agree, this is a step in the right direction and congrats to Sid for reporting it; credit where credit is due.

Basically, people are smart. They are smart for cheating but most importantly for getting away with it.

Then theres me... cant even spell cheet

No, they never said a word. Once it was discovered it was a straight forward process for us to track all instances, major thanks to our developers for assisting in this.

Remember, we log everything, if you're cheating it will be caught - if you report it you will be rewarded.

I can see a lot of people, understandably, upset about R* only receiving a warning as a result of this - asking if we deleted KK why not all of them? I think anyone asking that needs to realise that these are not even close to comparable levels of bug abuse. Avoiding a day of hospital compared to generating over a hundred billion dollars over the course of 2 years.

Do I think a warning was a light sentence? Yes, I do, it was and they're lucky to have just gotten that. I weighed up several scenarios regarding this but on balance I do not feel that a jail sentence was justified nor would it resolve anything other than peoples' want for blood, had the circumstances been different and the bomb been legit I probably would have just put them back in hospital - had the timing been better and my child wasn't being born at that exact moment I would have also been able to do it much sooner, but that just wasn't practical.

A warning serves as more than just a slap on the wrist though, it's a case of "You were still in the wrong, but under the circumstances got quite lucky out of it - next time you won't get lucky".

Of course a warning was a light sentence, i dont think it matters how small the bug they exploited was they need to be punished by being fedded for a certain amount of time at least. KK deserves perma fed for sure but the bug used by Relentless at the LEAST deserves a week in fed. come the **** on.

So its no punishment really?

I mean if rules are broken again are the ones on warnings going to receive a harsher punishment than those that aren't? If yes, then ok I guess.

Also can you change the rule page, where it says bug abuse and multiple accounts. The punishment needs to be changed from "Game ban" to "nothing up to game ban".

Again, yes, I can see your point and respect that - I had considered a week in fed but I have made my decision and I stand by it.
bogie [148747] Admin Staff

They would absolutely receive a significantly harsher punishment than those who received no warning.

I would like to think they would not abuse any future bugs, however, I cannot predict the future and any future sentences would be determined at the time.

It also wasn't really a malicious act of abuse. More like 50 people responding with trigger fingers when someone goes 'oh I just managed to get revived after using my nightly SEDs' before taking a step back and realising the implications. None of them tried to evade punishment or hide what they'd done, and all were willing to accept retroactive hosp/cooldown time so I don't really see where a punishment would be fitting.

You're clearly being emotional.

The worst punishment that would have been doled out was the offending players being chucked back into the hospital.

What would you have done? Fed everyone in the fac permanently? For getting out of the hospital 24hrs/+- earlier?

In my opinion every case of bug abuse should be treated equally. It even says that there will be  punishment in the game rules. I am not saying to fed them all.

You may the say that a warning is not the slap on wrist. You can easily see from the threads and post relentless made that they are not even apologetic. They instead are celebrating that KK got fedded and trying to blame JFA.

In this case the bug abuse did happen from both ends. It does not matter who abused first.

If a person steals his neighbor. Will it matter if neighbor himself made money using illicit means. Both are guilty on this instance .

This will be my only post in this regard.  This was not handled properly in my opinion

"In my opinion every case of bug abuse should be treated equally."

"I am not saying to fed them all."

You're making contradictory statements. KK was fedded permanently, so going by your suggestion, everyone that have used SEDs to get out of hospital should also get permanent fed sentences.

The question is: what punishment would you have doled out, if the decision was up to you?

OK lets use your analogy.

Person A (Relentless) walks into his neighbours house with his family and spots a fruit bowl. He eats a piece of fruit, and his kids follow suit, each choosing something to eat for themselves. Person A quickly realises that actually as this is not his fruit he should not be eating from the fruitbowl - alerts his neighbour and offers to reimburse.

Person B (KK) comes along and beats the shit out of Person A and his family.

Both people get life in prison.

Justice!

I would've followed the rules.. bug abuse is bug abuse, having different levels of it opens up grey areas which are exploited.

The punishment is clearly stated as game ban. I feel this should be changed as it doesnt always apply. Do you?

Edit: Removed the word easily. I have no idea what kind of exploits can come about and how.
