When starting out, I would recommend joining a lesser well known faction to learn the ropes and meet a few other players.

i see youre in jail already, go for lesser crimes like search for cash, or sell copied media before you try harder crimes, read the guides that are available.
top tip, keep your head down, dont beg for cash, dont piss people off and listen to experience. the advice given above is all good

Take this advice when joining factions, it will be a bit more difficult for you in the short terms of things if you join whats classed as a bigger faction or a faction that has a lot of alliances etc :) However welcome to the game, hope you have fun and enjoy this seedy AF game. Always look through tutorials and guides as they can be great help to new players (and returning old ones too.)

Welcome and good luck. I am new also, and there are LOTS of information you will want to learn before starting a faction. Consider joining a faction first, and get some mentoring.

You can very easily find a great faction willing to teach new players, Check the forums often, they are full of information and helpful people, There is ALOT to learn in this game so keep reading and you can ask me any question that you have anytime and i'll try to help to the best of my ability :) Hope you have a great time!
