Writing api calls in python

So I recently started learning python rewrite and building a bot

I've been able to make a bunch of commands that are embedded

But I can not figure out how make an api call.....

Could some one give me an example

I've never used python before but I know that cURL works, so there should be a way to call that from python. If not then you can try urllib2 here, but as I said I have never used it before.

Just fetch the api.torn.com url with the correct syntax.

 Basically do this from a command prompt after installing python and pip

The discord.py rewrite has a module you can use for async api calls called aiohttp. Hit me up if you need an example.
