With that out of the way, Blood Bags. Very useful item. The only issue with that is that it requires 2 courses, which in total will take you a maximum of 3 weeks. Max 8, if you just started a bachelor thing. But they are very nice to have in the long run, really. You can find out your blood type by using an Empty Blood Bag and seeing what kind of Filled Blood Bag you receive as a result.
Now, when buying filled blood bags for yourself, there is only 2 things that need to be considered. Your own blood type, and the prices of compatible blood bags. Here is a chart you may have seen before, that I pulled off Google images.

Now, the current prices of blood bags. (According to Kobie, great trader, would recommend.)
AB+: $36k A+: $28k B+: $32k O+: $32k
AB-: $80k A-: $36k B-: $54k O-: $36k
If you wanted to buy filled blood bags for yourself as an AB-, you are compatible with 4 types: AB-, A-, B-, and O-. At first look, A- and O- have the same value at the lowest, yes? While true, A- is less likely to go up in price overall, so if you want to be cheap, go for A-. Alternatively, go right ahead and buy up all the O- you want, they are the same price right now (as of writing) after all!
"I am AB-! That's the rarest type! Holy f**k I am gonna capitalise off of my own body fluids for easy cash!" No. AB- is the second least useful blood type you can buy. Rare doesn't mean good, plus, it's expensive as sh*t. Your blood is a trophy item. Congratulations.
What you can do however, is fill your own empty bags for personal use. It is the cheapest option, but it also eats up your medical cooldown and health pretty quickly. You can get, on average, 8 bags per day, at 3 hours of med cooldown per bag. But this is good for people who don't attack often.
I'll talk about self-hospitalizing, for those who don't want to spend $30 on Russian Roulette for 15 minutes of down-time. When I tested, I got around an hour of hospital time, which, hey, not bad. Always just go for the cheapest option. Unfortunately, if you're AB+, self-hospitalization is not an option this way, but that gives you a bright side! You can use any blood bag you want without consequence.
But on the other side of the scale, your blood can only go to others with AB+. Good for attacking. Crap for donations.
When buying filled blood bags for your faction, you need to take a broader look at things. Which, incidentally, also makes things a lot simpler. You do not want to buy these things last-minute, you want a constant, low stock flowing into in the armory during times they are cheap (or just bulk buy when they're cheaper.)>75% of people who can use blood bags will be compatible with O+, which is also the most common blood type. Depending on their price, these will be your
