As said above, buying trains is the best way to go and there's a thread dedicated to that here. You could also gain more working stats from some job/company specials, so take that into account when choosing. If your looking to max out working stat gains, you should also be reducing your education time as much as possible (for the little extra it gives you upon completion).

The big caveat to the "pay for trains" part is that it's expensive. 200-600k per train especially at 10* companies. There are active directors that train for free, if you can get at least 1 daily train that works too. Alternatively you can work in Education where once you reach a certain rank you can train yourself in the stat of your choosing.
