I just have been looking into it a little bit in work sometimes looking round about here and there. Would it seem like a growing trend in the near future? I hardly know as much, still am a beginner, but am learning little by it so am just wondering what you all think about it, it's benefits and drawbacks, and opinions on it or experiences having worked with some sort of big data software like Splunk.

It has been a huge trend for years...data = money and whatever = money is always in style.
At my job I am currently working on a project to deploy a massive data warehouse that pulls info from all our systems, old (AS400 , AIX) and new (AWS/Azure instances, RHEL, Server 2019), shakes it around in the magical data muxificator, and spits out useful, reportable, relevant information that can be queried any way you can think to query....its a royal pain my ass :P
