It's getting beyond time now, that the centuries worth of false dichotomies on race that has led to irrational fear and hatred are coming to ahead.

The issue is easy to detect. We as a nation have never dealt with our crimes against humanity, especially on the subject of slavery. The South was not punished, and following the abolition, we dealt with another century worth of Jim Crowe laws.

Today, Americans hate not only each other but ourselves as well because, in a sense, the America we are today was founded when Robert E. Lee surrendered toGrant on April 9th, 1865- and was molded out of the unfulfilled promises of Lincoln's ashes.

In Germany, reparations were paid to the victims of the Holocaust, and in a very overt and genuine way. The imageries of hatred, such as swastikas are rightfully banned because they understand that hateful words, actions, and imagery are not mutually exclusive when dealing with the spread of bigotry.

The Elders of Zion, a work of fiction and hoax was written and distributed throughout Western Europe and was a direct spark in the rise of the antisemitism that led to the holocaust. Hitler, in Mein Kampf, cited the Elders of Zion as fact, and that a German journalist who debunked the book was"fake news". Sound familiar? The book eventually became doctrine and was taught in public schools.

The Germans were able to learn from their mistakes because they took responsibility for their actions and were able to heal. Where here in America, we've never even begun the process- and so- like an old weed rooting deeper and deeper into our garden that could have easily been pulled, it is becoming harder and harder to deal with. Rather than accept the consequences, and dealing with the racism, we've allowed it to spread, eventually killing off any beautiful flower that we may plant.

I say all of this to any of you, right, left or indifferent, that if you feel even in the slightest way, a moral objection to what you're seeing, and what you're feeling about what's happening, please, don't ignore it. It is that everso innate quality of anarchism in your human spirit questioning the violence that is unique to hierarchical power.

White nationalism isn't coming.

It's been here and is now being dog whistled out of the stupidity of moral restitution uncharged and into the open screaming out:

"It's not our fault!"

It's mounting the spines of the Holy Bible and charging away from reality to combat the fear of the foreign.

The obvious hypocrisy that leaves one weeping at the forthcoming bloodshed is ever-present; that we white Americans are ourselves foreign. But the not so obvious, and the perhaps more important realization that we must undertake, is that humanity itself is foreign in the endless borders of the great universe.

I charge again to you, who feel the unease and discomfort- be blessed! There are many among us who are not going to feel it and will be aligning themselves with those who seek to oppress the freedom of humanity. Arm yourselves. Be vigilant. Speak truth to power. Protect your families and your communities.

Germans paid reparations to survivors of the holocaust, maybe if there were some survivors of slavery they would get paid by the US
Lewyn [2116090]
The point of this isn't to argue for or against reparations, and I genuinely mean that.

It's about pointing out that these issues should have been dealt with long before we've reached this point.

The reason that this tension still exists is that it was never dealt with when we had the means to most appropriately do so.

We whites feel that we HAVE TO feel some sense of guilt and we hate it. We get full of fear that we're going to be done wrong for something we feel we had nothing to do with. And thus, a continuation of rooting fear for what's foreign to us. We become melodramatically oppressed.

It's all just so evil and unfair to everyone.

Well my family was subject to the largest ethnic cleansing in modern history, and I'll bet none of you know who that would be without research
Sagramor [1908287]
Arguing with yourself about how much of a victim you are. Nice of you to say so.

Next you'll be arguing for German reparations...oh wait they already went that route didn't they....
Viskelli [2291865]
Reparations We (ruling class) will allocate $20 for each victim. We (ruling class) will give the victim $5 and we will convince the victim how much we (ruling class) cares about them. The other $15 allocated we (ruling class) will use that as we see fit to do good works for you (ourselves). See everyone wins ( groups are divided)
Sagramor [1908287]
You lament what happened to your family (rightfully) and frame it as the largest ethnic cleansing campaign but you omit the historical context in which this all unfolded and happened. It's 'almost' as though you deny the throngs of aggrieved parties that resulted from Germany's aggression. Doing so warps the reality of what happed and makes your position a lot harder to empathize with.

In the context of this thread, the grief you have for your lost family is a drop in the bucket when compared to entire populations. Trying to argue that one family is above others in any way is not a realistic proposal.

you are an idiot
f**k off
seriously the amount of effort you put in to supporting you position regardless of the degree of dishonesty is disgusting. Given you intellect you know exactly what you are doing, and that is far more heinous than some moron brainwashed with talking head bullet points.
