So, for the past couple of days I've been running some tests regarding an aspect of the game that most of us are extremely interested in; rehab costs. The main goals of this guide are the following:
1) Help you calculate your exact rehab bill for the near future (e.g. i took 17 xanax within a week, how much will i pay?)
2) Help you calculate your rehab bill in the future, predicting when and by how much your rehab bill will increase
[UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
3) For new rehab users it will point out that what is written on other guides (e.g. make use of natural decay, skip the last rehab, etc.) is indeed extremely profitable in the long run
This guide is UNDER CONSTRUCTION and in order to be able to complete it I need YOUR INPUT.
For now it will focus ONLY ON XANAX, since that's what interests most of us. Maybe in the future we can include all drug types.
I am not going to write down the known facts about rehab, therefore if you're new to rehab you should first thoroughly read another guide on basic rehab.
Advanced rehab knowledge (verified by me as well):
1 xanax = 35 rehab points (arbitrary unit). If your faction provides the toleration upgrade use it to calculate your current xanax value (i.e. 15% reduction translates to 1 xanax=29.75= roughly 30 rehab points)
1 natural decay (occurring roughly at 4am TCT every night) = -20 rehab points
We know rehab costs increase with use and therefore there are scales of rehab cost (i.e. the cost per addiction point increases with repeated use). Within a given scale though, the addition of each xanax increases the cost in a linear fashion.
[That means that if 3 xanax with 1 natural decay cost an x amount, then 6 xanax with 2 decays will cost 2x and 21 xanax with 7 decays 7x]
Each rehab session ($250,000) removes a VARIABLE number of addiction points. When you're new to rehab it removes a y amount and that number declines over use, inversely proportional to the increased cost of 1 addiction point.
As you know, the faction special that reduces rehab cost reduces the $250,000 session price, i.e. at 20% reduction the session now costs $200,000. It still removes THE SAME addiction points though.
Using a simple system of 2 equations with 2 unknown parameters and some trips to geneva right before and after 4 am TCT i personally verified the above.
For example my own results are as follows:
--> 1 xanax is 30 addiction points, since i have -15% from tolerance special.
--> I have no rehab reduction cost, i therefore pay $250,000 each session
--> I calculated that in order to remove 1 addiction point i must pay $37,500. Therefore 1 xanax's addiction costs me $1,125,000 and each natural decay saves me $750,000 (at my CURRENT rehab cost scale)
You can all find the amount you need to pay to remove 1 addiction point easily with just 2 trips to geneva, but you need to follow certain rules (see bellow).
If you calculate the above value you have successfully achieved goal (1) of this guide and can predict exactly what you're next rehab bill will be like.
Additionally if a lot of people answer the questionnaire i will list in the end of the guide, we can find out the formula that describes the cost jumps and achieve goal (2), i.e. after how many rehab sessions my $37,500 per addiction point will increase and by how much. Is it linear? Is it logarithmic ? Is it linear with a cap?
We need peoples answers to get to the bottom of that.
I will now list the steps and the relevant questions i ask you to answer if you want to contribute to the guide.
Please read everything carefully and follow the instructions, so that the result is valid and therefore useful. Examples are provided for complex steps
STEPS:
1) Go to geneva and FULLY rehab (do NOT skip the last session). It is not important how much you paid in this trip.
2) NOTE the time you rehabbed.
3) ONLY use xanax till your next trip for rehab. Note the number of xanax you took and how many natural decays (4am TCT) have been intercepted. CAUTION: if you rehab at 3 am TCT and the first drug you took after the rehab was at 5 am TCT, THEN DO NOT COUNT that days natural decay, because it went to waste, since there were no addiction points to reduce!
[e.g. I rehab fully on Monday morning at 7 am TCT. I then proceed to take 3 xanax per day till Sunday afternoon. Then fly to Geneva. Monday morning i wake up at 7 am TCT in Geneva and rehab. I took 21 xanax and a total of 7 natural decays were intercepted.]
4) If you OD at least once, discard the data and restart from step 1.
5) You can visit rehab whenever you like, it doesn't have to be a specific number of xanax. DO NOTE however that you should have taken at least 6 xanax. That is important because at small xanax numbers (i.e. 1-3) the rounding that happens (meaning that you can't rehab your exact amount, only multipliers of $250,000) is significant. Whereas if you used 10 xanax, the rounding affects way less (%wise) and may be ignored.
6) Use your toleration faction special % to calculate how many addiction points each xanax adds for you.
[e.g. for 50% is 1 xanax=17.5]. I have the impression that this number rounds up to the next biggest non-decimal number, so i'd urge you to use that instead. However, the impact of that is generally negligible because in the most notable of cases it affects only by 3%.
7) calculate your addiction points
[e.g. 21 xanax at 15% toleration--> 29.75 each xanax (use 30) and 7 natural decay interceptions is: 21*30-7*20=490]
8) Try to use rehab either before 3 am TCT or after 5 am TCT so as to be sure you're either before the decay or after. Note the maximum NUMBER of SESSIONS you can do. Multiply that number by $250,000 and then divide by the addiction points you calculated on step (7) to find out the standardized cost of 1 addiction point for your pay scale. I specifically ask you to multiply the number of sessions by 250,000, because we don't want you faction special for rehab cost to get in the way.
Obviously for you it is more useful to calculate the cost with the special included, but in order to pool the data we need to have them standardized.
It is evident that there is deemed to be some variability for many reasons (e.g. % of xanax used in regard to total drugs, if you systematically fully rehab or skip the last one, if you systematically try to rehab after each day's natural decay, etc.). OD's generally will have a small impact in the overall cost increments (despite them being x 2-3 the addiction) and can be ignored. Having input from many users will therefore be very helpful. Most of the factors that introduce heterogeneity will be explored in the questionnaire.
GOAL (1) is now achieved. If you know how much 1 addiction point costs you (include the faction special for cost reduction here) and you know into how much $ each xanax (include tolerance special here) and each natural decay translates to, you can proceed to calculate anything.
For example i pay $37,500 per addiction point, therefore each natural decay saves me 20*37,500=$750,000. If i use 3 xanax per day (15% tolerance) and rehab after next days decay i shall pay 3*30*37,500-20*37,500= $2,625,000, which the system will round to $2,750,000 and i should therefore rehab once less. Next day though, if i do the same thing i can rehab fully because my cost would be exactly $2,750,000.
Understanding the above means you have succeeded in GOAL (3) as well, since you now know exactly what you're paying and how to save money (and how much you save).
Now for the tough part, GOAL (2).
If we can get many people to answer the following questions we can understand when the price jump happens:
a) How much each standardized addiction point costs you (I repeat, use $250,000 as the cost for each session, NOT your discounted actual cost- if you have the relevant faction special)
b) How many drugs you have taken in total and what are the individual % for xanax, vicodin and ecstacy in regard to total drugs used.
[Very soon data for vicodin and ecstacy will be available and we will know how many addiction points they add]
c) If you're a relatively new player and you started rehabbing AFTER rehab sessions began to get recorded in our stats page, DO INCLUDE the NUMBER of sessions you've done. (NOT THE COST).
If you used to rehab long ago before that parameter became available, SKIP that question
d) Do you systematically (i.e. most of the times) rehab fully ("over-rehab"), or do you skip the last rehab?
e) Do you systematically (i.e. most of the times) try to take advantage of natural decay at 4 am TCT, or you just randomly rehab whenever you can?
Hopefully this guide will help you understand an aspect of the game that remains a puzzle for many players.
Calculating rehab costs in the long run proves to be very important for us who want to adjust our passive income to cover our routine daily activities.
New data will be added as they become available. Nevertheless i believe that even in its current form the guide is helpful.
