After having looked at the player committee just now all I see are dinosaurs, there's a handful of active players and the rest are just semi retired players that probably don't have a clue about the current mechanics of the game and what needs updating. Having people that haven't played the game competitively for the past few years discussing huge changes is just f**king stupid. You've got players available that make some of the bests guides around that literally every single active player uses yet they don't get in over people that probably don't even know what buy mugging is.

i'd tend to agree - being committee and respresenting the player base must be hard if you aren't active and actively engaging with the player base

I was looking at the list the other day and noticed the same and that one or two hadn’t even been on in a couple of days. Not sure if it’s the norm or not. Maybe the player committee should be switched out every couple of years. At least it should have a diverse bunch of older and newer players , maybe with different playing styles too ... traders , gamblers, faction leaders ect.
Committee is a toothless tiger and long standing joke. It would be interesting to see what sort of dynamic would occur if the players committee was selected by the players. O the people and for the people. But TC ain't no democracy.

There needed to be more young, smart players on committee for a while now. I don't want to scapegoat all of committee for game problems but there's way too many fossils there to give Ched an accurate representation of the playerbase.
The fact that Proxima isn't on the committee is an absolute travesty.
Really needs a refresh. Should be changed every year or so? Maybe the committee itself can vote on who gets replaced depending on their input to discussions. With bogie overseeing to ensure it doesnt become a distinct group just pals together on lockdown.

Everyone has their strong areas and POVs proxima. Some people might not have a huge background in computer programming and fully understand the specific mechanics involved, or the update could be more of a niche thing that certain committee members don't really participate in. Some committee members are better with community impact, some analyzing spreadsheets, some are good at pointing out potential abuses.
The feedback for the mugging update, given the individuals with strong backgrounds and opinions showed a pretty high acceptance. When voting was involved, I commented that I had read everyone's opinions and educated myself on the update and impact, but that I wouldn't vote because I have a pretty neutral opinion.
I think that's pretty fair.
Those commenting on dinosaurs and people should be retired have no idea what they are talking about. You can't see the committee forums, you don't know who participates in conversations or the value their opinion adds.

I'm aware and appreciative of that. I just don't appreciate having a committee where some of the time some members don't really bother even giving a little bit of feedback on certain things (even if they are not as familiar with a particular concept, an outside perspective can be refreshing), to be then told "yeah this was totally fully accepted!!". And then we end up with mugging percentages like the ones that we just got suggested by Ched.
