Inb4 Triplicant.
Edit: I’ll settle for 4th comment then smh!
OT: Very nice guide. I would totally agree that there is a lot to digest with this game as a whole. But I can see it being a case of information overload for players just signing up. Very nice guide. R+

Not being an antagonist here, but for those who read this crap. Follow this one instead, "Baldr's Advice" - clicke here.
You should read the wiki and learn how things work and stop talking about luck. Luck is on the Torn City Map no usage of energy, item respawn on map spawn every 00:00:00 TCT.
If you are new I suggest to get 500 each in your battle stat, find a faction member with a PI, and train there. Buy beer in Bits and bobs 100x per day every xx:00, xx:15, xx:30, xx:45 of the clock. Then sell those 100 beers for $1000 - $1100 each.
After you get those battle stats, find the list punch bag / player with high level but low stats and attack them, see to it their stats is lower than yours.
Attack them then leave them this will gain more exp. You will level up so fast, this technique is for unlocking the Travel Agency, this will help you survive the game and get rich.
Also what you saying about long tutorial not putting about the Battle Stat Attributes like how fast, how strong the attack, it is already in the wiki.
P.S. there are so many plethora guide around dont confuse new players in wasting their E in the Dump. E is precious in Torn City. Cheers!

This does looks like a great guide for new players though some info I'd like to disagree on.
The dump especially, you will only need to search the dump once for a mission and preferably never again. As a newbie player your goal is to get a grasp of the game, but you will also want to have the edge above your peers, your fellow newbies; so the most efficient way for you to use your (E) Energy is for GYM training. Frequently training in the gym helps you (the player) unlock the next gym which in turn raise the modifiers that affects the stats that you gain while training.
Why do I discourage the dump? True, if you are lucky you might find an item or two worth keeping...but remember that the items in the dump are items trashed by other (older and younger) players that doesn't need the item anymore and also for the merit "Eco Friendly" which requires one to trash 5,000 items...items that are mostly trashed for these are cheap items like Bricks, Boxes, fruitcakes, lollipops sheep/bear/cat plushies etc. so basically you will sort out through 5,000 of these trash items (dumped by numerous players) before you can hope to find a 1M worth item. This will only slow down a newbies growth.
I'd like to clarify the battle stats too.
Gym: ( BASIC UNDERSTANDING )
Strength : how hard you hit someone (calculated against your opponents DEF)
Speed : how accurate your hits are (speed doesn't affect "how fast you can move" only accuracy, this might confuse new player into thinking this is about dodging.)
Defense : how much damage can you withstand (calculated against your opponents STR)
Dex : how much you can dodge the opponent (this actually affects another aspect which is "stealth" which when attacking determines if the attacked person will know who their attacker is)
Sincerely,
A 2month-old baby.

I'm pretty sure you don't know how to read kind sir , this is a 14 day survival guide .
This is not your guide where you rush to level 15 blindly .
These 14 days are so crucial and with the right direction ; you will be strong.
Following Baldr's advice and reaching level 15 is easy but surviving your first 14 days is crazy especially if you don't P2W and afford happy jumps .
Some people make it big with luck . I personally found good stuff in the dump at a low level . Made sure to invest that in stocks once I found out it's value
Saved me from " slutting " for 250K per 25E.
100 E netted me stuff on my first few days.
Money = stats
This was in reference to Jojero's reply (:
On your first day ; no new player wants to hear dexterity helps you with your jail ; they don't want to hear dexterity helps with stealth attacks ... They just want to play the game
