It can be used as fuel in combustion reactions, and also was previously fuel for plants.
If you touched pure 100% oxygen in the atmosphere, it would combust, and if all the oxygen in the world burned, the world would be vaporized.
Edit: it fits the surreal possiblity because with the number of humans and oxygen-breathing creatures on the planet, the possibility of the earth reaching that level of oxygen again is impossible, without the systematic extinction of all humans and animals, with the survival of plants and decomposers.
