Idle status and friends list

I was just going to chat a friend and they weren't appearing on my friends list, so I assumed they were offline. Upon visiting their profile, I saw they are actually Idle, and opening a chat with them also showed the yellow icon.

I've refreshed and cleared cache and they are still idle but not in the friends list. Is this intentional or a bug?

I think they disappear after some time. So this must be intentional.
Because you can see them if they are for idle like 5 min or so.

Friends and Enemies lists on the sidebar shows those active within the last 15 minutes I believe.
