Players You Admire

Who are the Torn players you appreciate the most and why do you appreciate that player?

Although he is inactive, the player I appreciate the most is LeukyBear. LeukyBear was "the" original Defense whore and did so without ever taking a drug. He's so rich that he lives in a glass pyramid instead of a private island. LeukyBear was the inspiration behind my silly JFK polar bear memes.

Other players I appreciate, in no particular order:

Ohadik - I have to shoot-up a few injectable temps to reach Ohadik's level in battle, but he's been a good rival in JFK vs. SA wars. He also caught the world's first verified shiny Lapras in PokemonGo, which is cool.

Hemi - Like clockwork, when I loot a Pink Beretta Pico from Leslie, I get a pm from Hemi.

Bones - A recent inductee to my list of appreciated players. Bones caught my attention several months ago when she wrote a newspaper article focused on awards. She is a bonafide merit chaser who is constantly on my back.

Tiller - Torn's most handsome player, bar none. He's also a really cool and dedicated staff member.

Dekloren - Arguably Torn's #1 player in terms of saying/doing things to tilt other players. I can no longer count on two hands how many times this guy has made me say "Gawwdd Daymmut Dek" under my breath over the years.

IceBlueFire - A lot of dedication and work went into (and continues to go into) Tornstats.com. It's one of the few tools I trust my API key with.

Champion - Another recently inactive player; the creator of the best Torn content to ever exist: Z_junior reacts to insurgency. Overall, the guy just knew how to tickle my funny bone.

Sky - I appreciate Sky's loyalty and dedication to our faction over the years; even through low-activity "hibernating" times. It's been fun to grow together as players. (Granted, her battlestats and networth have grown a lot more than mine!!!) She also showed a lot of trust and confidence in me while I was gaining experience as a company director.

DrGonzo - My favorite battlestat Megazord in this game. The guy is an attacking/mugging machine and is not afraid to hospitalize all of FTW whenever Bodybagger breaks his killstreak.

Proxima - The guy raises the average IQ of General Discussion by at least 4 points. I appreciate his testing efforts and overall "Chedburn awareness campaigns" to help correct areas in Torn that needed adjustment. (Accuracy/Dex, most recently)

Kata - We give her a lot of trouble for her perceived-bias in her editorial work as it relates to various happenings in Torn; but the fact remains, she actually takes the time to video herself in fairly legitimate-looking broadcasts. That's next level.

Z_Junior | Karalynn - I'm just listing them so I don't get fined... *ahem* No, in all seriousness, they are great faction leaders and do a wonderful job heading the JFK dinner table. I also deeply appreciate their willingness to load-up our faction armory with various toys for me to play with.

PrincessJulie - I'm convinced that PrincessJulie is the best troph...er... Torn wife in the game; the poor girl is bombarded with an absurd amount of my Torn-flirting and Torn pick-up lines and somehow continues to let me live under the same roof.

Lord_Thomas and Halvie - They recruited noob-Andyman to his very first faction called "Criminal Scholars Inc." about a decade ago. Lord_Thomas also gave me a high-paying job in his "First Television Network." I still remember the day I used about a thousand TV job points to increase the respect of the aforementioned faction. *cringe*

Estelle | Vladar - One of the rare real-life power couples in Torn. I appreciate the work they put into their Community Event entries and for giving me a place to hang out when dirty bombs start flying.

Bogie - We give Bogie a lot of trouble in the forums, but I'm adamant that there is absolutely no one better for the job of Community Manager. I also appreciated his willingness to clear-up and sort through technical information about Torn circa 2014 when I was experimenting with making a blog about Torn.

Chit - On the rare occasion I enter Global chat, Chit has been there posting a sick burn or troll-meme to someone who deserved it. I also think he cherishes my karma-to-post ratio more than I do.

Gratify - Another recent inductee to my list of appreciated players. I really appreciate her taking good care of my dog, Tessa. Ever since we voice-chatted, I no longer have a desire to watch ASMR videos. I also admire her collection of Lollipops, it makes my glow stick collection look silly.

Madmiketyson - Ultimately, the player who took a chance on me and introduced me to how faction warring works so many years ago. I can also count on him to translate British-nonsense.

Brakier - This guy is always traveling when I click through to his profile and usually one of the first to comment on General Discussion threads. LIke... one time I needed the little globe icon so my brain thought "just search brakier" to find it. Load image: laughing

Hcrombli - I usually don't converse much with Hcrombli because I'm too distracted by Hcrombli's improperly-solved-rubik's cube discord avatar.

MightyGoober - My favorite ex-committee member; mostly because of the way he fell on his sword.

Kelsie - Fellow Lumberjack, full of good suggestions, always kind to me on the rare occasion I visit Global chat, and has at least one cool looking dachshund. Load image: smiley

Yeah I'm not sure anything will ever top "Z_junior reacts to Insurgency". If there's anything that can be said about Champion, it's that he certainly knew how to bow out on top.

Ohadik, Hemi, Bones, PrincessJulie, IceBlueFire, bogie, Madmiketyson and Sky are all awesome and would make my lists too*. Z would make my list as well I suppose, everyone needs a rival and every rival needs a leader. And I do actually enjoy talking to him about stuff like territory mechanics.

You've got a solid list there, but I have a few additions I think you missed:

Andyman - consistently working selflessly to improve the cesspit we call "General Discussion" with interesting and/or analytical posts that get my particular juices flowing. Take that as you will.

Mauk - this dude is a genius and spent a shit tonne of his free time developing the most popular extension for this dumb game dedicated to helping players and improve their overall experience. The guy is pure awesome.

Harley - although a little less active nowadays he is still:
- A member of the committee
- Lead editor responsible for the entire wiki
- Long time member of Q/A "answerers" - probably the reason I started bothering to help players

I'd argue he's one of the most invaluable resources this game has ever had, and a great friend too!



And without getting too soppy CrazedOne would be slap bang at the top of my list.

I gotta give a shout out to Gux- (Previously Viking) for being all around awesome in any list of players I admire.

I'd make another list but it's my bed time and I'm too lazy! Just know if you're an analytical player who shares their data with Torn, I have mad respect for you (you all know who you are :D)

Damn, spent 2 minutes thinking about who I admire on torn and I legit couldn’t come up with anyone.

Most are just too weird or too easy lol
