Karma does nothing really in terms for the game. But various amounts will open up some extra forums. VIP, celebrity, etc.
Sometimes you will enter a cool down of sorts if you upvote/downvote the same person too many times, or even upvote/downvote too many times in a row, too fast. Or something to that effect. And it won’t let you do either or for a short period of time.
Upvotes do effect Suggestion posts though! If you get at least 100 upvotes, that thread can go to Ched to review as a possible addition to Torn ;)

But only 1 picture already affects the karma score. So whats the minimal lenght then?
30 characters. Pictures and emoticons will fill out that limit by themselves cause it counts the bb code characters.

Karma is the 5th stat, right behind your 4th stat, Dexterity, and right ahead of your 6th stat, life.
