i like the permanent upgrade at a higher cost idea a bit better, in the long run it will cost less dont think its quite fair to punish the players/factions that have worked harder/longer simply because they have. 5k added every 5 hour interval would end up costing 1.05m respect to completely eliminate the cool down time if you wanted to take it that far.
a faction with 5m respect would end up spending the same amount of respect @1% in just 21 insta-resets.
Permanent 1% cost sounds very reasonable. That's less than most upgrades, and typically whatever size faction you're in would need to complete roughly one chain to recoup the cost. I originally thought respect per minute shaved off the time would make sense, but that would give a huge advantage to high respect factions.
I think this is a sound suggestion, and could change some strategies for wars.
To add complexity, perhaps there could be an additional cooldown for using this feature? Either a cooldown on being able to "purchase" another instant unset, or an extended cooldown on your next unset.
Seems reasonable. If you want to avoid the 4 day delay, chump up the respect fee.
With lots of factions having billions in the vault, a financial fee would be too lenient. 1% will mean bigger factions will have to cough up more respect for the instant unset. R+
I see this being abused by factions who chain a ton. Especially if it is capped at something like 5k. 100 Hours is a long time but I don't think an "express fee" is the way to go personally. I see this as something that would discourage wars. If the territory is lost, just take it back,
If a faction loses a territory that they would not have if they were on war specials, shouldn't they simply come take their space back?
how would it be abused ? and it wouldn't be capped its a 1% of the factions respect which is like 45k respect for us for example which is a decent amount but not to high to where it isn't reasonable to use
it wouldn't be just 1 territory 4 days you could lose a few easy and war perks is a HUGE deal when fighting a territory war can easily make or break a war which gives a big advantage to assaulters
We've seen HoF factions recover from Dirty Bombs in what I think was under a week. Now imagine a smaller more casual faction without full time chainers losing the same 1%. I don't think this would be a fair tool, tbh. I'd be more on board with changing the reset timer than I would be having a "Respect Fee Express Lane".
Also, everyone says wars are fun and they want more. Fighting as the underdog and then turning around 100 hours later and fighting back to reclaim territory should be the activity that every keeps saying they want. Why make a tool to reduce the likely hood that people will war?
a inactive faction without active chainers probably wouldnt really fight back anyway would they and if they did and they are a low respect faction anyway they wouldnt be able to buy much specials anyway and are probably fighting someone with low respect who cant buy a whole lot of perks this is more for those medium to higher rank factions where what perks you are on makes a huge difference as you can max out 2 or 3 or more war perk branches
iv made a suggestion before to change the timer it got denied by ched
I understand where the idea is coming from. I don't like the idea of using respect as a consumable in general. Even weighted as a % it still benefits larger established factions more than smaller ones and solves an extremely niche issue. At the end of the day, if the war specials would turn the tide of the war then the defeated faction is just going to turn around and come back. In that event, they should fight it out. Dodging wars at the cost of respect seems counter productive.
Most factions easily address this issue by keeping their specials constantly on the reset timer. Simply cancel and restart the timer at 12 hours or less. Solves the issue of sub 100 changes, gives flexibility in strategies and responses, doesn't cost anything and keeps dev time where we want it. On crimes 2.0 and other updates.
100 hours is just ridiculous in today's times. the rackets have changed up the game a ton and wars are happening more than ever before leaving the attacking faction to prepare with war specials and the defenders essentially having to wait over 4 days to fight back.
If you are under threat of war, your faction should always keep some defensive branches unlocked. The system really wasn't designed for you to entirely switch all your upgrades instantly, at any cost. They really are meant to be long-term. Perhaps we even need to increase the 'unset' duration if this message isn't clear enough - maybe it needs to be weeks or a month. I've seen ideas like this come up a lot - which in my opinion are entirely missing the point - so I think the 100 hour duration is simply too low.
If you have the ability to instantly switch to whatever branches you want, what's the point of the limits? It may as well be a suggestion to 'allow unlimited branches at base costs' or 'just make all upgrades free'?
Also the costs mentioned don't really work - they don't scale well. 1% respect is nothing to a faction with lower respect - they'd be able to pick and choose whatever trees they wanted whenever they liked, while it's a pretty huge amount for factions with lots of respect.
Completely agree it should not be instant. A faction should keep themselves alert at all times if there is possibility of attack, of course. But a month is outrageously long. If you are hit off-guard what, you have to wait a month before you can level the playing field against a surprise attack? That would be awful. 100 hours always felt perfect, anything beyond a week is just too long and doesn't promote the idea of fighting back at all.
I think the point is more to make respect destruction a choice for factions in exchange for some perk or benefit. Maybe 1% isn't the right value, maybe it's 5% with a minimum of 10,000 respect (i.e. a 100k respect faction it would cost 10k, a 5m respect faction it would cause 250k respect). I think the concept of adding something that factions can spend their respect on (that destroys the respect) is interesting even if it isn't in this way.
If you increase the duration beyond 100 hours all that's going to do is give even more of an advantage to factions that spring a surprise attack on someone. As it is, a lot of factions already have rolling unsets (i.e. their perks are constantly in a state of being unset so that they have less time until they can reset them), but this is annoying because you have to constant reset your perks every 4 days.
Maybe a better option would be keep the duration at 100 hours, but actually make the branches become inactive when unset - this would mean there would be real pain involved in switching as you'd have no perks at all for 4 days, vs. now where there is no cost other than annoyance to the leader to constantly have them being unset.
