Can you store money in property vault even if you don't currently live there? For example, I own a palace. Then, can I store money in the palace vault and then move in to a rented private island without losing the money?

Yes you can.. But you would have to fire all staff before being able to move.. Seeing as you are married, what you can do is get your spouse to rent the PI instead..

On a side note, you can't get any of your cash while renting a PI. If you really need it, you need to fire the staff of your PI (and reduce max happy) before moving over to access the cash in your vault, then moving back to PI
Quite tedious, but i believe that you can circumvent this with quick movements before your max happy gets reduced
