I was thinking of something for people to do with Energy while travelling.

How about using the same concept of the dump in Torn - but you use 5 Energy to mine for Precious Stones or Metals at the various countries?

You could then trade in a set of Precious Stones at the Museum for Points

However there could be a high chance of getting lowered value ores that you could sell at a Scrap Yard in Torn as well to keep things balanced. The Scrap Yard could also work like the Stock Exchange and have a daily value change of prices. So people could try to save up and sell when prices are high.

Love this idea!

This could also work well with an archaeological dig site. You excavate different fossils from different locations, with different rarities and values. Each location could have a particular dinosaur and digging at that site gives you a chance at finding different pieces for that dinosaur. The museum would pay out for a completed skeleton of each completed dinosaur set, though I don't know of a good way that the scrap yard could be included.

Edit: All of that being said, I think making players unlock the museum first before being able to excavate/mine would be necessary. Right now you cannot gather museum items with e, so I feel like that might affect the value of points in general.

I was actually thinking of Fossils as another option that could be dug up as a top tier find. I was doing this suggestion at about 2am my time as it just kind of came to me. Just wasn't sure how much work it would involve to do but that would work very well in the Museum side of things!

I honestly don't think we really need another source of points when some flower and plushie runners are already complaining about the downward pressure on prices.

I like the idea except for trading for points.
Unless the stones / metals will fill up the carrying capacity. Take one mined stine back to Torn is one less plushie/glower to carry.

I think we also need more ways to use points. Which, buying mining passes for; say, 1 point = 10 mines. So points end up used and bought off of this idea.

Interesting idea. A simple "Explore" function that would generate random events (comic outcomes are welcome!) could also be cool.

"You wandered by a japanese creek and found an Agate".
"You wandered by japanese streets and got a ticket for overtaking a pedestrian by the wrong side. - $5000"

Stats/awareness/luck/money on hands could also play a role on the outcome.... Plenty of room for creativity and humor!

I like this idea, it's a fun new mechanic that fits in with the rest of how traveling works, and allows people who do not want to risk mugging a way to get rid of some energy. But as others have mentioned something needs to be in place to avoid deprecating points further. Here are some ideas:

- Add another history edu that you have to do before you can mine
- I agree with making it take up item carry space
- Perhaps you can't sell the stones p2p so you have to personally travel to each country with a mine and throw e at it to complete a set, and then unlock the museum to trade them in personally. In order to let players keep their sets balanced, perhaps you can sell the good items to the pawn shop.

I would actually really like to be able to upgrade our weapons and this would be a decent way to do so instead of trading in for points. Could have a Weapon Smith to visit in Torn and trade in X amount of minerals for upgrades to weapon quality. It would require quite a lot though to keep it fair instead of working with the Points from Museum, like I said it was a 2am thought lol

A weapon smith? Ores for upgrades? That would work great for traditional RPGs, but I dunno if it would make much sense in Torn settings.

An extravagant figure called "The Collector" or something in that fashion would make more sense - a very wealthy mobster or politician, trading rare sets (including mineral /gems) for weapon mods. Would give nice background for an extra NPC too. It could also require points as part of every set, or maybe to points to reset the available options.
