absolutely there are other ways to gauge trust. ultimately trust is subjective. different people will use different criteria.
that being said, if you look at all the faction scammers since it became legal, there is a very similar pattern almost every single time. the outlier in this case would be Deimos.
torn has always been a bit of a "real life" imitator, and i sure as hell wouldnt trust any of my mates with my life savings, so why do it in torn?

Also, this shouldn't have happened in the first place. There's a reason why leadership applications and hierarchies exist, although this guy seems scummy enough to even wait for 12 years to get a measly 1b.
Anyway his reputation fell through the roof, so no mainstream faction is gonna accept him.
Given that I am Xanet, I think I can speak to the first matter. It wasn't intended to be impersonation and any person who have ever visited my profile would be aware of that. I have used the same profile pic for almost my entire time playing Torn. It was something he made for me and as far as I am aware was displaying it because he made it.
That said, I am going to throw in my two cents here with the note that I lost 150m in this (which is not at all much money, and I had intended to burn it on things not important). I don't think faction banks are safe at all. I would be extremely hesitant to store any significant amount of money in one anyone but me had access to. I think that what he did was very shitty but I of all people understand how tempting a large amount of money is. Lets be honest. Torn's community has an extremely short memory. You might get bounties for a week or two, but after that? You basically just got a large sum of money for 2 weeks of inconvenience. Scammers won't stop because there's no consequences. You've "thrown your reputation away" but who cares if you aren't a trader? No one.
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven't lost the things that money can't buy

also dont use faction vault, there is really no reason for it, you can have your money in points,stocks or cars "cars npc sell value often same as buy value on item market"
i have never used faction vault, not that i dont trust my faction, i trust it completely, but i see no reason to have money in that vault when here are so many other ways to store it.

Yet that dude has bank access n given part of leadership. My faction may not be best, but it is place I will call my Torn home. No one drunk rants, always supportive with kindness, n chat is full ppl talk about crunching numbers n mechanism. Every tiny achievement is being celebrated.
Ha sorted out or am I missing something? His NW has never reflected 13b, meaning he does not have the money on hand. We all know NW is recalculated over night, so theoretically he has stolen the money and distributed it or returned it before anything updated.
If he has not returned it, does he have an accomplice or a multi that he has quickly sent the money to? Faction leader should probably start looking into all his friends networth figures to see who has a large spike.
