If a company has an employee working in the secretary position, that number you see is generated by Torn as an indicator/estimate of how much this employee is contributing to company income.
It's how much of the Company's daily income you have been responsible for based upon your role, efficiency, etc.
It's s really useful indicator for a Director to understand which staff working in the same role are more efficient than others, as well as an earlier indicator of someone that might be slightly addicted.
Especially in companies like Adult Novelties where every dollar income matters.

Improving your efficiency involves lots of Education to build up your job stats, you could also look to buy trains to speed up those job stat gains. The other thing that you can do, if you have the book of course, is to read the 'Brown-nosing the Boss' book. If you're feeling particularly generous to your employer.
