Merits don't increase your NNB.
The only way you can increase your NNB is from doing crimes, it's very slow.

Crime Guide
Essentially take away all merits and faction perks to work out your true 'natural' nerve bar, see where abouts you sit within the linked guide, and just keep plugging away at the recommended crimes.

NNB always goes up (or down) in chunks of 5 to a max of 60. "Safe" crimes are the best way to build and keep your NNB. Safe crimes are one that never send you to jail if you fail. Going to jail loses you the most CE. (Crime Experiance) Next is getting hosped. The lowest loss is paying a fine.

Not correct. Going to hospital and paying a fine doesn't result in CE loss.

Source? Every guide out there states what I said.
I am happy to learn a new info, and what you're saying is pretty ground-breaking.

I agree. Every guide I've read sasy going to hosp doesn't hurt your CE. Been sent to hosp several times but my NNB never dropped like you hear when going to jail
has this been changed recently? what sort of testing has been done towards this? Nash's testing contradicts you in regards to hosps and fines
I'm pretty sure Nash's testing is outdated, if you look at the pinned response.

A source would be very much appreciated, or some proof of any research conducted.
Well, to reiterate: only jailings from failed crimes (not OC) result in CE loss.
Hosps/fines/blues are safe.
