Like UV1 said, thats 3 months that you... aren't progressing towards stat cap. Hunting is best utilized during the event and in the late game. There's an event that (doubles or triples?) your hunting exp for 48 hours. Utilize that if you want to capitalize on hunting, don't waste e where you don't have to.

1) Plushie Runs (everyone hates them but they work)
2) Mugging (But don't buy mug or you'll make tons of enemies)
3) Start building towards your 2B in the Torn Bank
4) Stock blocks once you have the 2B in the bank

PI is helpful for the extra gains but really you can just rent one. It's cheaper and lets you progress your account faster. Buying a PI is for people with 2B in the bank already who are tired of dealing with rentals. Or for people who want the "status symbol" of owning a PI. Though the status symbol is seriously lacking as one until it has a yacht. A yacht being a HUGE waste of money. XD

Edit: A little off topic but people were discussing it.
Happy: Is only the "primary" focus during sub 400k in each battle stat. (800k if you are in an Adult Novelty company with 10 stars) After 400k/800k, happy still gives an increase but its negligible and reduces to irrelevance as you progress to 50m each stat. After 400k/800k, it's all about the amount of energy you can dump into trains, so the PI is "helpful" but kinda meh. That's why I call it a "status symbol".

It takes three weeks to reach 75 hunting skill, less if you utilise the tigers day that's coming soon. Once you hit 75 you move on to advanced hunting and you start making some decent money.

After a couple more weeks you will hit 98 skill and the progress will slow down a lot. But at this point you make around $140k per 10E, so with 25E (one attacks worth) you will get around $350k, so quite similar to slutting.

Will you make more money just slutting for 3 months? Sure, that's why slutting is popular. It will however give you a lot of losses which at least I think look ugly on the graph screen.

0-100 hunting skill yields roughly $2B, with that money pile you can do a lot of things, money open up doors.

Min maxer who can afford hours of daily trading, selling art, winning competitions or whatever should probably avoid hunting. It is however a very viable option for new players to get a sense of progress, make money and have time to figure out what to do in Torn.

I get quite often messages from people who are interested in hunting and I help them along, they make pretty decent money, can get their own PI rather fast and enjoys the game.

TL;DR hunting is most definitely a viable option for many players and new players should look into it.

Doing the Plushie runs. Getting around 1mil a day. My faction does not allow slutting

Just stacking the money away in the faction vault.

I have a stock ticker should I start investing now or wait until after I rent pi to upgrade my carry limit.

Thats still 3 weeks of training. Assuming the person has donator/subscriber, that is (720*7)*3= 15,120 energy that is not being utilized to train. That by itself is enough unlock almost all of the light gyms or both Knuckleheads AND Pioneer fitness, the first two middle weight gyms. In that time, while training, and flying plushies, you could gain more money than you could from hunting while continuing to work on your gym.

Who really advises slutting? Reviving goes for $1m and most people in organized factions thoroughly believe it should not be less than that or you're wasting your e.

It's not about the money, it's about the stats. You can earn enough for a PI running plushies and working on your stats, you can't work on your stats if you're grinding out hunting except what like 2-3 times when you land with full e? per day?

Min maxer?

Hunting is a perfectly fine past time. I have a 52.xx skill, but I don't actively seek it. Most everyone will advise to prioritize stats>money any day especially in the early days.

actually... do what you want, it's torn. You might do some actions and regret later, you might do some actions and be glad you did them. These actions aren't the same for everyone. Go ahead if you think income is utmost important than stats. You'll just reach the stats cap later than other active players who are the same age as you.

Then again, merits in Awareness and hunting early game is definitely one of the most groundbreaking ideas that I've heard of. Let me know if it works for Fizzloges 2 years down the road, I have a few nubbish friends around the same age as him and let's see if they can fight him one on one. Who knows, he might be right. lol

I would recommend Education to newbs followed by CE if they're poor or Banking if they're rich for growth or both together. But still, like I mentioned, entirely up to you.

For the passive income, get most of your money from travelling, some of it is from buying and selling beers/kitten plushies. (Beers can be hard sometimes even for me) invest in stocks, do LSC then TCHS, SYM and FHG. (Check Andyman's Torn Stock Dividend Analysis and Bug's Stock Market BB Guide). If you have 2b cash, throw them in a city bank with TCB, gets around 410mil every 3 months.

In the long run, people say that it's cheaper to rent a PI than to get one, it's entirely up to you, I have mine because I like the flexibility of buying cheap stuff when I see it. It can take minutes for a banker to come online and pass you cash, and usually, if they're cheap, they're gone in seconds. Join a sweet shop or adult novelty as well, you'll get stuff to sell and those are pretty lucrative for newbs.

For active cash, join a competition, participate in faction activities, communities events, one of my faction mate got a parachute from Duke's RNG event. Simple 400+ millions from typing stuff. if you are an artist, sell your graphics. If you are a coder, you can sell your service to traders, or faction leaders. Up to you if you want to be a trader, there's risk involved for sure. Do these on top of flying, and you'll find a healthy cash flow while you training in the gym at the same time.

Faction with good travel perks —->Plushie run. Do some slutting on the side if you’re not overly concerned about stats. —> Rent Private Island (or marry someone with one/split the cost) —->Keep travelling, maybe look into trading —->Cap bank (2B) —-> Use interest + extra profits to buy Stock BBs with cash value payouts (SYM, FHG, HRG, LSC etc).

After that, there’s not a lot of passive income you can achieve. Further growth will come from trading, stock market, maybe mugging or reviving if you’re swaying to that. But in essence, these are more of a proactive form of cash building.

That's not true at all. Energy spent in the gym unlocks better gyms 5 e in the gym for a day 1 player gets the same progress as 5 e in the gym for a day 300 player.
Your happy jumps are better in better gyms.

Best advice Is play the game the way you enjoy it.
If you discover you love sitting on a plane to SA and hunting then that’s the correct way.
If you love slutting, nothing wrong with that.
You want to try be a big time trader? Great!
Find what you enjoy and do it.

Passive income types?
FHG,LSC,HRG,TCHS,PRN and many more stock blocks
Max out your bank
PI renting
Cayman island banks
Awareness merits

Theyre is probably many other ways as well but this just named a few. However as pointed out to make passive income all these bar awareness cost a lot of money with initial investment. Awareness is free but those merits could be used elsewhere.

I read a lot of different ones and thought I'd leave my humble opinion.
Im still s newb, but to me energy is the most valuable asset in the game. Of course ppl have different priorities, but you can get rich over night; You can't get good stats without gym grinding (or nnb if that's your thing.
I just won a PI at the wheels this week. Didn't change my game much.

Happy jumps are great when you're below 400k stat, sure, but how can you afford them? Candy jumps are better than normal trains at that level and are perfectly doable. Joining an AN or SS is very important when you're HJing. Sweet shop is the poor man's AN.

When you're using all your energy efficiently, you'll realize that an extra 25e costs 2.3m, an extra 150 costs 13m. That's how i do my energy math. A merit point costs 12m. Best thing to do witj your energy is train.

Renting a PI with an airstrip pays for itself if you fly. Buy a bazaar and check the market for cheaper offers. Sell your imports ansd whatever else you can buy cheap. If you're active enough, trading is more profitable than holding LSC or THCS blocks. If you're not very active, stocks are a good option to save your cash.

There are different ways to make money if you're creative.

Passive income is not best way to buy you a pi
Travel and trading are.
So many destinations and items you can import abroad
So many items and stocks you can flip in torn
Most guides only give you skindeep clue of active income tho so you must learn it all through experience

dude hunting is crap, and sa is crap to fly to , you want to fly to spots that has total 4 hours back and forth so you dont lose any natural e or nerve.
Andyman [471591]
Working in a Zoo (huge awareness boost and more hunting income) and having a maxed Excursion faction branch (hunting income boost and travel capacity boost) can certainly yield some decent income if you're willing to travel a lot (very boring in my opinion), set timers, and rely on awareness luck for windfall drops. Awareness does correlate with not only more drops, but higher quality drops.

Running SA items, hunting, awareness, and capitalizing on bank interest earnings while traveling will have a decent active yield associated with it, albeit at a pretty large opportunity cost of delaying your training and ability to unlock new gyms, do missions, do crimes, etc.

Can we not degrade this thread into an argument with an obvious troll?

There are a few guides out there that cover passive income. The main tip is to invest in the bank for short periods of time until you get 2B (3B if you're in a 10* oil rig) and start investing that 2B in the bank for 3 months at a time. Besides that, you can get some of the item stock blocks (LSC, SYM, FHG, etc.) for the bonuses. No work required.

Obviously, working in a company will give you passive income, but you'll need pretty high work stats for the pay to be actually significant. Joining an AN will let you get EDVDs using job points though.

Another way to earn passive income is by renting out PIs, but that's only really viable if you have enough money to buy a PI in the first place.

Lastly, you can put money in the Cayman Bank. The upside to this is that you can withdraw the money whenever you want, without a deposit limit (unlike the city bank). However, the yields are lower and there's always the risk of muggers stalking that place.

I hope this helps you.
