Have you tried to close both chats then open one again? if that not worked then try to block them an unblock them.

Iv only seen this happen when someone changes there name an you still got there chat open.

I haven't changed my name since the first occurence. Every time it occurred, I closed both chat windows and cleared cache.
Blocking and unblocking? Why?

Note:I clear cache regularly
The issue doesn't pop quickly, atleast a week's time between these occurrences

I had the same problem once when someone changed there name and they only way i sorted it is to block them and unlock them. strange i know but it worked at the time.

Once the cache is cleared the issue shouldn't re-appear unless you are using multiple devices and once of which has bad cache. Did you clear cache across all devices? Does the problem crop on a single device or is it replicated across multiple devices?
