The US & UK have accused Russia of launching a satellite that could release an object that would target other satellites. As the article notes, this is the first time that the US has accused Russia of doing such a thing, surprisingly enough.
Russia’s excuse is that it was an inspector satellite, although the US Space Command further claims that there were inconsistencies regarding the stated purpose as an inspector satellite.
It’s interesting to see Russia continue to hold on to relevancy despite their comparatively poor economy, although I definitely don’t see Russia as one of the nations that will come out on top of the STEM race.
