I really don't know how real life business works and pricing so I apologize for my ignorance in life. But I was wondering is it possible for someone to lower a price on an item in market on purpose? Or does it just happen because there's people out there too busy trying to get there money asap so they put it at low price and due to them putting at low price, the price of that item goes down. But do people do this on purpose just to drop the price of an item so they could resell it for more. Idk how but just curious? ANd if it is so possible to drop a price on an item on purpose by someone is it also possible to raise it by buying? I mean obviously one would have to buy everything under their price and then sell it at the price they want to benefit from.
I did try this raising a price of an item in that way but it seemed to not work. It seems some people know what's going down and they put those items back up at that price that i already bought it, in order to keep that price steady.
Ofcourse ultimately I doubt anyone will answer this question in depth because there's definitely some hidden secrets of Torn, myself as a newb wouldn't know of especially when it comes to business. Obviously to be the greatest of the great in Torn you must understand business since it's not all about fighting and warring.
Lower on purpose? Why would you do that lol?
It will come naturally because the nature every buyer in Torn is to buy at lowest price as possible. It's a nightmare for sellers. Event calender, mechanism changes, stock prices, general rl condition, even clock and days are things you must watch out when you hoard stuffs.
IE: you notice sfak price is falling after new waring change? You notice BCT price is falling after hunting day? You notice edvd price sunk during population day? These are nightmares for sellers.
Raise it is another thing. It is profitable. Still need to watch out the things i mentioned on above but yeah possible on certain items and if you have the money. Personally I like to simply ride the waves tho :).
Also mind you, miscalc a bit and you may end up losing big chunk of money.
First of all, some people sell at lower prices because they want to sell fast. Personally I give decent discounts on items I obtain from city finds and stock block items. I get these items basically for free so I sell them cheap just to offload them quickly. That way I can spend that money on whatever it is I want.
Second, it is possible to lower or raise the price of items. However it can be very difficult and it requires a lot of money. The less quantity available, the easier it is to influence the items price. The more useful the item, the easier it will be to change the price.
If you were to continue to buy all fhc until they were selling over 20m each, and kept buying them any time anyone sold them cheaper than 20m, that 20m will be the new norm. But if at any point you decide to sell them to try and make a profit, the market will become more diluted and prices will start to fall fairly quickly.
Collectables and rare weapons can be somewhat easier to influence because of the limited quantity. However it significantly increases the amount of money required to make a difference in pricing.
At the end of the day, items are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. Generally, the amount of people using fhc will stop using them if the prices go up too high. Which makes demand go down, which drives the price down. It's very hard to influence the price drastically, or for a long period of time. You can do it on a small scale to attempt to make a profit, but you might end up with items you don't need, that you can't sell.
If you want to be a trader, look out for people like me who give decent discounts occasionally so you can resell for a profit. You'll be much more successful doing that, than attempting to manipulate the market.
Ah ya lowering for the collectible and rare items. Yeah I don't sell them so that part is my blind area.
