That's probably the best outcome and Mike was lucky that you were so generous and understanding of the situation. From the OP he sounds more like he's after making a quick buck and shaming Soft than to actually help rebuild PR. That's why he's getting shit on.
Really it's on PR's original leadership to buy back the faction and pull back its member base or punish Soft/the faction buyer if they don't cooperate. OP's naive if he thinks a stolen faction is worth as much as a non-stolen faction.
Thinking PR was on the mend after the dispute with Wolverines, I now find it has gone back to nothing. I've been a member of that faction for many years and it was never SoftRising's to give! Before the raid there was approximately 70-80 members, all of which were kicked in order to bring about a solution to the war. I believe SoftRising was left in temporary charge whilst this was happening. Peace treaty signed, 30-40 members slowly returned, half the original number, however Soft never returned leadership to tinytown.
I don't know MrSands, could be a decent player for all I know but he has effectively bought a faction that was never for sale from a player that has betrayed a good group of people with a long history together. I feel sorry for those that were nearing the 1000 days merit although he did say he'd allow these members to return. However why kick in the first place? You have a ready made faction with a decent set of loyal members who would have most likely stayed on. What made the faction was in the players who are now scattered and pissed that they've have been kicked a second time. R.I.P. Phoenix Rising.
I came back to Torn after a hiatus some years ago and after joining this faction 1400 days ago I finally felt like I had found my place in Torn again. It was then led by mighty Eryenne (now Zexxy [1661145]), later merged with a bigger faction and rebranded, led for many years by our beloved tinytown. It was a lot of fun, met a lot of people and friends over the years, had a lot of chains and activities, an active chat... And one of only a couple of people that were longer in this faction than me was SoftRising so you would expect this person to be one of the most trustworthy and dedicated people to the faction, right? Afterall (s)he was friends with faction leadership and everyone for so long. Turns out not so much...
Occurrences like this are not rare in Torn. It seems like every few months you can read about a big scamming scandal or betrayal like this in the forums, running over others, backstabbing, made for someone's selfish and greedy goals. Sometimes it feels like Ched made Torn as a sociological experiment to show the true nature of people living in an imaginary society and some players never fail to "impress" us again and again with their actions. That's life and that's Torn life, Torn can teach us a lot about real life as well.
How exactly did you scam the scammer ? they walked away with 20B selling something they didn't own. It seems they got what they wanted 20B. you got what you wanted the faction & then proceed to shaft its members buy kicking them all. if you didn't want to leave the faction to profit by someone different buying it fine ( i disagree but ok). What gets me is why kick all the members ? why not explain what happened and ask them if they wanted to stay and be part of what you are building ?
You poached and talked to your members everyday and one day you just threw them out when you no longer needed them. For fast profit 5 billion of pixel money? I don't understand such mentality.
If leadership was handed to SoftRising in trust, knowing that it was an interim arrangement... then SoftRising is total garbage. This is far worse than vault thieves, who are already demonized for their scummy act.
As for MrSands, he's Gordon Gekko. He's an opportunist, he's no angel, he's got no ethics, he's dismantled a faction, but hey he didn't betray his family. And... he didn't pretend to be a gal like LimpRising.
RIP PR, and sorry to the members who had to deal with the implosion of their home. Been a rough week for you folks.
