Hacking Crimes for Cash

This response is purely an obvservation of MY own situation and isn't offered as solid advice. I've also posted this observation on the Q&A thread. What I've found is there is a "sweet spot" at 35nnb where you can do the Transport Cocaine drug crime and not lose your 35nnb. I'm currently on almost 8500 drug crimes and still have the same 35nnb.

Now I've read and re-read this thread and can happily tick the boxes on all but one of the success gains to reach the 85% success rate. I'm now considering experimenting with the hacking crime, mainly because I just fancy the short term gains. I have available 75 nerve to play with so I want to see how this outlook on hacking pans out. If I get too many reds then it'll be back to firebombing empty warehouses. Not that there's any chance of joing a PA any time soon either.

I did hacking crimes for a few months. I was earning on average about $3m a day using alcohol. My NNB dropped from 45 to 35.

I have been doing arson for about 3 months now, and I'm still at 35NNB. It absolutely TRASHES your CE.

I think that hacking is a completely legitimate playstyle, but it's one or the other. You have to lock yourself in to being a hacker, or aiming for a PA team one day.

Yeah I did hacking for about a month but then I realised it really isnt worth that extra few mil a day that can be easily gotten through mugging or trading. Better to build up your nerve bar for the long run. I started doing just arsons now.

I've been hacking on a 95 nerve with a nnb of 35. I'm fully tripped out in all the bonuses mentioned on page one save perhaps the maxed out CE gain from my faction, We have around 22 ticks in it but that changes depending on Torn events. I'm also in a ten star pub with a lot of spare job points.

I started in August hacking the FBI mainframe.

Pay outs ranged from $100k - 400k. Of that month 6 hacks were around the $100k mark, but a whopping 87 hacks were all over $400k each.

I didn't hack for 5 days out of the 31 as faction perks were altered and the pub lost it's ten stars. My nerve was halved so I took a break from hacking. However, over the month I still managed 459 successful hacks and 31 red results for a monetary gain of $147.3m. I'm fairly decent with maths but I'm not a solid mathlete so I won't be making charts or graphs. I divided the successes by the losses and came out with around 15%, which is the number quoted for a fully statted out hacker. 15% being the loss rate.

My routine was to hack 90 nerve and chug beer to 18 nerve or as close as I could. I hacked at 18 then refilled to 95 with JPs. I hacked again and used my remaining nerve. I averaged around 20 hacks a day. I also put my money directly into my vault after each hack. You never can be too careful.

I didn't include World Beer day in the results as I had insane amounts of nerve to play with but counted those days as a full 24 on the spreadsheet I was populating.

September is Hacking the Bank month. I've yet to finish with the spreadsheet but have noticed the hacks are in the $200 - 399k range. As it was Elimination month, for which I took part, I didn't hack during that time as I figured on spending a lot of time in a hospital bed.

The data is looking good, but the RNG was cruel to me one day and I got 4 red results. On another day I had 3 reds in a row. That said the averages look to be the same for both Bank and FBI hacks but I'd like to crack more data on that before posting results.

In all this time my nnb has stayed at 35. I'm also continuing with the spreadsheet as it's become quite addictive to complete when doing the hacks. If anyone would like the data once I have a few more months' worth of results then I'd be happy to oblige.

I don't plan to make this a career path, but want to complete my 10k computer crimes using it. I would like to grow my nerve bar and earn other merits. I also plan to try out other less safe crimes, car theft being one of these.

At 30-35nnb you NNB wont drop
It is worthwhile to do In my opinion to max for short term finance goals, like helping max bank, getting the high return stocks.
However, once you have those best to get into a PA team, not to mention faster crime merits also from maxing NNB.

What I am saying is "if you fail one time, not sure to get success in the second hacking.". According to my hacking experience, one time failed, the second time is 75% sure to be failed. So, what we need to do is the combination with arson crime which will recover the CE.

If you're gonna go hacks, then only do hacks, doing arsons at the same time is just a waste. Yes you do sometimes get 2-3 reds in a row, but other days you may not get a single red. This is of course assuming you have sufficient intelligence stat and crime success merits/perks

Having completed 10k drug crimes for the merits, I'd have to say I don't want to stagnate at 30-35 NNB for another year. The faster I hit 60 NNB, the more valuable my nerve refills will become.

Why I think more $$$ than a PA:

PA's take 192 hours (8 days) to complete.

PA payout is $300M but is divided usually by 5 (4+faction)

$300M/ 5 = $60M

$60M/ 8 days = $7.5M a day. (you said here its 7.5M)

But considering how hard it is to get enough people together with the right requirement to do a PA and the fact that PA's don't guarantee success, I believe you would make more money long term with hacks than you would PAs.

Also the amount of time it would take you to get to 60nnb vs the amount of money you could be making with that time Hacking instead is huge.

Hacking crimes-

You get 1 nerve every 5 min, so it will take you 1hour 30min to reach 18 nerve to do one hacking crime.

24h / 1h 30m = 16

16 * $200k = $3.2M per Day possible (here its 3.2M)

(at lowest money made)

$3.2M * 8 days = $25.6M @ 100% success with only $200,000 made per hack. (wait where that come from? I thought we were sticking with the 3.2M vs 7.5M comparison, you're comparing the 1 day 7.5M to the 8 day 25.6M)

I usually only fail 1/10 crimes and average around $300k per hack, so the gains offset the failures.

With the recent changes to Jail crime experience loss, do any of you guys think its now okay to do hacking crimes for cash even more?

With this update I believe it is now even more so practical. However if I assume correctly after you fail one hack you would need to only do 21 warehouse arson crimes to gain your CE back and move it forward.

Before the recent changes , most people basically made a choice if they wanted merits from doing drug crimes .Then they did while they were at 30-40 nerve bar . And just stick with drug crimes until you do 10 k for all the merits . If people weren't worried about merits then they stuck with safe crimes to get to 60 nerve bar .

This may be anecdotal, but I'm recording way more fail/jailed while hacking after the Jail C.E. loss change.
