hello together,

purpose of my thread is just to inform people, how torn is working these days, to avoid mistakes what i did..

- to my story:
i wanted to sell my company. as i was afraid of mug, i decided to sell it to system. first i checked, that nobody from employees is online, that nobody can warn some mugger. i told nobody, not even friends that im going to seil it at current time..
after selling, was planing to store money to faction. then i was thinking, that so or so one day i have to take that money with me if i want to store them in caymans. as nobody knew i have money and i was traveling more times there with never been attacked, decided to go.
I was really prepared by end of traveling time, imediatelly pressed recaptcha, pressed offshore banking button and ... mugged
really no chance, that somebody could refresh page, see i just landed and attack ..

i really dont want to whine, i was mugged, in that case (for sure im angry etc. but .. this is my problem, my stupidity) i was more wondering, how this could happen.

after consulting with some people, now i understand that there is a script warning some people, who sell company to system - so really this means, risk to sell to other players is lower like selling to system
also there is a script (confirmed by bogie that its legal) that shows people, who is traveling to cayman. then they just open your profile, most probably know even when you land and just mug you. sure they are faster, they dont need recaptcha, not even press "offshore banking". they immediatelly after landing just attack.

there are for sure a lot more interesting scripts what i currently have no idea exist. they are even legal ...
This makes really big disadvantage for players, that are not programmes, or even have no friends programming. Torn is now really getting game of programmers..? People, who just mug randomly, have really no chance to get that wealth as people using those scripts.

One of examples: Pops - average daily mug is 1b (no its not for buy-mug protection)

Again - nothing against people doing it, its legal ... so why not ..?
From my point of view really what is said, Torn is game of programmers now ..
Time for changing of game style - looking now for right people, right friends, right scripts, not making money with stupid crimes, bounties, mugs for 1m etc ...

good luck people and have fun

If you want to store money in cayman, do not carry the money with you. Put in ghost trade with your friend and fly there. Take the mug for $0. Wait until the mugging storm ends, get ready to deposit, ask your friend to cancel, you deposit safely, fly back to torn, and send money to your friend as thank you gift.

Maybe one of your employees tipped someone who happened to be already in Caymans after you boarded the flight ?, Just a possibility though.

Start ghost trade with friend, start trade with company buyer, turn off revives, self hosp, trade, move your earned cash to your ghost trade, take cash out of ghost trade later.

Sounds ridiculous when I write it out but I do appreciate the game for letting people take advantage of others who don't go through all the right steps. Keeps the game interesting.

Scripts that harvest other player's API keys to set up cash notifications are icky though. :/

Traveling to Caymans with a lot of money?
1. Set up ghost trade with a trusted friend who will be online when you land.
2. Travel to Caymans.
3. Land in Caymans.
4. Wait ~60 seconds to see if mug happens.
5. If no mug, message friend to cancel trade while having offshore banking open.
6. Once trade cancels, you have your money and can bank within seconds.

If you really want to avoid it, join a theatre. Guaranteed you got spied on the flight over and a mugger waiting was told to refresh mug you. 100 wasted 500k spies is paid for by 1 good mug.

Reading the post, I assumed OP was a few hundred days old and a bit naive. But no, he's a whole 15.5 years old in the game. Did scripts help play a part in the mug? Who knows. But don't put yourself in a position where you're flying with 10b on hand and you won't get mugged.

Yikes, hope your mugger trips over a flight of stairs

Thankfully I am someone who'll do his bachelor's on CSE so I'll be making "legal" scripts eventually

I mean, I get mugged pretty regularly when landing in Caymans regardless of how much cash I have on hand. You weren't targeted, just unlucky.

You've just given me some real f**king solid script ideas to enhance my mugging experiences. I was on the fence about a few things and now I think I'm set.

Thanks OP.

he wasn't spied. There is a script that informs someone when someone sells a company to the system and gives alert to the guy with the script. So the guy with the alert either used a Business Class Ticket or is someone that always stays in Caymans waiting for the person to go there and mug him right when they land. (There are also scripts that inform you when someone starts to travel somewhere and when someone is landing)

It sounds unfair and if bogie is aware of such scripts, then why allow them?

Maybe better off implement a system that alerts everyone that certain person sold their company to the system so that makes it fair for everyone, not just script users!!!

I've also advise faction mates to make multiple trips that way if they get mugged they don't lose as much as they would have had they been carrying all their money. I also advise taking the time to do ghost flights where you fly often to the caymans with little or no money. It adds to the randomness and mugger will have to decide if they want to waste spies or energy mugging you each time or try to guess when you have money in hand.
