Weapon Quality? Huh?

Weapon "Quality" is a percentage score shown on your weapon infocard. For example:

My Gold Plated AK-47 (GAK) has a quality of 16.36%.

Quality Colour

You might notice some weapons with a colour ("Yellow", "Orange" or "Red") next to their Quality percentage. These are given to "special" weapons or armor, i.e. items that have a bonus. The colour signifies the rarity of the item, as well as the size of the bonus Damage/Accuracy that has been bestowed upon the item. Yellow is the most common of the special items, Orange is next and Red is the most rare. Red also provides the largest.

How is that score calculated? Is that good?

Quality for weapons is calculated using two variables, and Armour one. Weighted as follows:

- Weapons: 50% Damage, 50% Accuracy
- Armour: 100% Armour Rating

To calculate each part of this, you take your weapon stat, subtract the "base" or "minimum" for that stat, and divide by the "range" of that.

- For a GAK, Damage ranges between 75 - 80.

(76.18 - 75) / 5 * 50% = 0.118

- Accuracy ranges between 62 and 67.

(62.46 - 62) / 5 * 50% = 0.046

Total Quality = 0.118 + 0.046 = 0.164 (= 16.4%), which you'll see matches the above screenshot (well almost, due to rounding).

Some things to note:

Damage, Accuracy and Armor each have standard ranges of 5.00.

Yellow, Orange and Red weapons can push Damage and Accuracy values well outside of their standard ranges (i.e. if GAKs were found in caches, you might see one with 81 damage), and hence a Quality greater than 100%. For example, this Red Beretta has a Quality of over 300%.

Legacy:

- When first introduced, Quality included "special bonuses" - 2 for each weapon and one for each armour, thus accounting for 50% in total for any item. This was removed since most weapons do not have a single bonus (yet) and none have more than one - additionally armour pieces also do not have any bonuses.

All pillow damages are equal. 12.24 = 12.14, there is no difference. But 12.24 will give a crazy quality weight. So it could skew a weapon such that one pillow with High Dmg / Middleish Acc is "higher quality" than Low Damage / High Acc, even though the High Acc weapon is better

If that truly is the best snow cannon in the game, that means one of two things:

- 24% is not the best possible proc percentage for freeze

- the proc percentage is rounded horrifically (e.g. it's really 23.5%, which is displayed as 24% but 23.5 is used for the quality calculation).

In the game guide its mentioned freeze can be between 20-25% however no Snow cannon in the game has 25% yet..

Might come in the future. Would that change things?

If you're working from the Wiki, I wrote that page and "20-25%" was a complete guess based on information we had at the time (I wrongly assumed all ranges would be base-base+5% and saw 20% as the lowest).

Thanks for the post. Can't say I'm a fan this "quality" metric though because it's so wonky.

Doesn't really tell you anything about the item you didn't already know either.

better not pay too much attention to this 'quality'.
It has nothing to do with durability, as I expected at first glance.
It is some pretty random 'summary' of its other statistics. I won't use it and look at weapons statistics instead.

It too me entirely too long to find this again. Why is this not in the master guide list!? Your forum signature just links straight to your fancy pants google doc.

p.s. thanks for your work.

Is here a guide that tells me what the damage and accuracy will do to my potential hit success and damage?

Is it a flat bonus or does it scale? SO if i am already high speed relative to strength should i prefer a weapon with more damage than accuracy?
