· 2 likes · By this standard, all 15 character long names are protected from ever being taken. As others have said, why doesn't it just default to their user ID? Do you HAVE to put numbers after a username?
I posted a forum in Q&A because I didn't know if it was appropriate for bugs and issues but was told to come here. Basically I've been trying to do a name change but the name I want is "unavailable" but they meet all the criteria for the name to be available. https://www.torn.com/profiles.php?XID=2134641
It's because MikeEhrmantraut is 15 characters long, so the system cannot set the previous player to MikeEhrmantraut{number} as this would make it at least 16 characters long. That's just how it works.
Oh I see so it adds a number to the end of the name to free up the previous one. It is too bad that when a name is bought that their name doesn't just convert to their account number. Is there anyway to bypass this to make the name available or is it just the way it is?
If that's the case, you should consider changing it. It meets all conditions, so it should be possible to change it, "That's just how it works" is not a good argument to close this. It might work as intended for you, but it's still an issue if you can't change your name, even though it meets all conditions.
Possibility is indeed changing the name to their id.
