Event Log

Hey all,

Is there a way to either download or search the event log? I traded with someone sometime back, but now can't find who it was.

You can type in the word "trade" in your events and see what pops up.

If you've got over 100+ pages of events though and it's dated far back before that, it will have disappeared.

Edit: the actual running "log" is not searchable. Only your events page.

You can see trade history in your items tab. At the top is a trades link

If you don't trade that often, it's probably still in your trade page too. In lower part of page you can see history of your trades up to 10 trades.

As others have said, the activity log is not searchable as such, you'd just have to scroll through it until you found what you needed. Similarly, your trades page shows your most recent 10 trades (https://www.torn.com/trade.php). If you cannot recall who the person was, there is little recourse though. Private message me if you recall the name.

You can also copy & paste (paste values) the activity log into excel/Google sheet and use the find feature.

It would require you to go back in the activity log which can be a pain but it’s doable. ive copied in about 3 months worth of data at once in only a few minutes

You can use react dev tools to grab the underlying data that the activity log is populated from. The data will be in json format. From there you can paste it into a file and ideally write a program to get stuff from it. This is not particularly user friendly, sorry about that, without making a video this is about the best I can do.


Brief step by step process:

• Use a laptop/desktop (sorry mobile users)
• Search for "react dev tools firefox" (substitute firefox for whatever browser you use) and install the extension
• Navigate to Torn
• Open your activity log and scroll down as far as you want data for
• Open dev tools (usually F12)
• Navigate to the "Components" tab within dev tools
• Click the selector (a mouse in a box) icon, top left in the component tab (....ok I know there are two of them, use the bottom one, the top one is for the dev tools, but we want the one the react dev tools added)
• Click the activity box (this is an Art more than it is a Science)
• Mouse over the tree of stuff to try highlight the entire activity box (I'm sorry, this is really hard to describe, once again its an Art)
• Try find something like "Context.Provider > t"
• In the props box open recentHistory -> history
• You have now found the data that populates the activity log
• Try right clicking on some of the data and select "copy value to clipboard"
• Paste it somewhere (like into a text file) (I used vscode as my editor)
• Wait 5 minutes while your text editor contemplates how life ended up this way
• Save the text file

This is in line with Torns rules as:

• This "uses data from ... a page you have loaded manually and are currently viewing"
• This does not "make additional non-API requests to Torn"
• This does not "scrape pages that you're not currently viewing"
• This does not "attempt to bypass the captcha"
