When there is an unread event, i.e. when the event icon is highlighted, enable mouse hover over with pop up to show unread events. This can reduce the number of visits to the Event page. It is more convenient in time-sensitive situations e.g. to know who attacked you.

Consider doing this also for Award/Merit icon notification
